Morality does not need religion. There is natural law. We have morals as a society for our own benefit and well being. You do not murder your neighbor, steal from your family, you work and make money to pay your bills, etc. Most of us follow some basic laws that insure the health and well being of our families and loved ones. So we can all co-exist on some level of security. This is natural law.
What a love for Christ does is add to that natural law a higher, divine law. One that says do for others first...not yourself first. Love God and then love your neighbor. Christ tells us to sacrifice for others in his name.
Natural law requires that we do something for our own good, divine law requires that we do something for the good of others and to glorify God.

Society decides what is and is not moral. Look at Europe during the Inquisition. The Church was putting people to death because they didn't believe in the same God. Now these people did believe in gods, just not the christian god. How moral was that? Did their God justify it? Would the church condone that action today?
I do not require faith in anyone elses god to make me a moral person. I do not cheat on a woman, I do not steal, lie, or kill. Honestly, I am a better man than many people of faith that I've met.

Morality is not simple. Some people need the help of a, hopefully, moral God to guide them. But believing in a God, is not required to become more attuned to the universe, so you develop a better intuitive sense of what is the moral thing to do. Mind-body exercises, as well as meditation, can help make one more sensitive

Why is religion necessary? The bible is full or rules that people don't follow. It has been cherry picked for the rules that people like in this day and age. You shouldn't get to pick the rules you like, ignore the ones you don't, and then claim that you get your morals from the bible - unfortunately, thats exaclty what people do. If that wasn't the case, then why is our "christain nation" (usa) not stoning a significantly larger portion of society?

As a Christian I would think they go hand in hand, because we know what the sins are and what God told us in the 10 commandments and so forth. We also know what is right according to His word. Most know right from wrong, but not knowing God, lets them think it doesn't matter.
As Christians and religion we know who to ask forgiveness and where to find it. Yes religion of God is morals, or everyone would do right,............xx

you can decide for yourself which is moral and which is immoral, it's pretty much common sense. you dont have to read the bible to know killing someone is immoral.
