Why did the Jew honor s Russian Orthodox Priest by the name of Father Alexander?

1) Father Alexander had brought milk for the sick children of a Jewish family. 2) Father Alexander had stood before an angry mob, holding his blessing cross. Thus he had fearlessly saved the lives of a thousand Jew. Why should they not honor him?

I have never heard of him. I am sure he is honored by the ones he helped?
