I have two comments to make on this;
If you allow a hypocrite to keep you from church you allow them to stand between you and God. There the hypocrite is closer to God than you.
When you stand before God you only have to account for yourself, not the hypocrite. That hypocrite will be the one accounting for their selves!
Give it some thought!

No, it's not an excuse. It's definitely a good REASON, among many others, especially if you're familiar with Judaism or world history, but it's not an excuse. An excuse not to become a Christian would fall along the lines of "it's against my religion" or "I'm zombie intollerant" or something like that. Those are things that can't be proved to be true. Stating that the people who practice Christianity are hypocrites can be proved to be true, and is therefore a REASON, not an excuse.
Edit: Of course, then there's the whole "I haven't lost my mind yet so I have no reason to believe in magical people with magical powers that know everything including the future but somehow can't be found in the real world" excuse. By that reasoning, those people would also have to conclude that there is no Santa, Zeus, Ra, Odin, Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny, Harry Potter, Freddy Kruegger, or Quetzalcotl. How could they ever deny the existence of all of those gods and people? Don't they know how many books have been inspired by and written about them? Jeezuz Krusty, with that type of evidence, how could anyone ever deny them? You aren't a non-believer are you? If so, don't go to sleep tonight, Freddy will be waiting for you, and he'll use you to get to your friends and family too!
Still not a believer? But Freddy is much scarrier than Jesus, Satan, and God! When was the last time you saw any of them slice and dice a horny teenager on the big screen? Never! Well, Freddy has, and I have the video tape to prove it!

This is a good example of the presumption that exists in the Christian religion. This person has assumed that everyone is faced with the choice to be a Christian or not, like its a big question that people line up for and have to pick.
Being a Christian was never even a consideration for myself, and millions of others.
The asker makes it sound as if people would have to have some strategy to avoid being Christian, and then makes the assumption that it would also have to be faulty.

It might be an excuse to not become Christian, but hypocrites are legion. There are lots of reasons to not convert to
ANY religion. Why does one need a reason to not join ANYTHING?

The devil will make sure that if you want to find an excuse to resist God's call, then he will find it for you. Looking at other people as the measure of the followers of God, is just what the devil wants you to do. All we like sheep have gone astray (Isa 53:6). Christ is our only perfect example.
"For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls." 1 Peter 2:21-25

Who needs an excuse? No, buts is a good REASON, for starters.
People tend to take on the personalities of those that they mingle with. Mingle with hypocrites, youre likely to at the least, accept their hypocrisy.
And, if you think thats the ONLY reason Im not Christian - well, there is another reason to avoid you people.

I don't need an excuse not to be a christian. I don't believe the beliefs of Christianity that's my reasoning for not being a christian. Personally you can be whatever you want. I wont attack your beliefs as long as you don't attack mine. Unfortunately it seems like some "Christians" feel the need to attack anything they don't agree with or understand.

How about "I don't believe in fairy tales" is that a better excuse.
Also you have a set of laws which are unrealistic. How many christians are virgins when they get married? Or who don't say goddamnit I believe It is highly unlikely for a christian not to be a hypocrite.

No, that's not the reason not to become christian. The lies, and false gods that you raise up, now there's a reason not to be christian.
And before you start ranting and raving about false gods, bear this in mind: Man created god in his own image to fill the void of understanding in his own life, as we begin to understand our world without the assistance of a divine being we have less and less need for such archaic beleifs. Soon there will be none at all....what a great day that will be.

No. The best excuse not to become a Christian is its innate fallacy. The hypocrites are just an added incentive. We do not hide behind them but rather we rise above.
