Why should Protestants conform to your church, when nothing has really changed about it? You just renamed everything.

The Pope, the Roman Catholic church, is NOT asking anyone to conform to anything except Christianity. I seem to recall Pope John Paul II making efforts to bring ALL Christian religions together ... NOT as a single church, but in a single belief in Jesus Christ, regardless of how each sect chooses to worship him.

Believe it or not, the Catholic Church has undergone several reformations since the days when the Inquisition ran rampant trying to detect and root out "heresy" and "apostasy." Today's Office of the Inquisition hardly espouses the techniques of past centuries. I don't believe it even has the same purpose as it did then, at least not the same authority and power.

I think that in today's world, the Inquisitors of old have merely handed the torch over to the lawyers of modern times. Their morals and tactics are very similar.

The fact that there is still an office of the Inquisition just goes to show that religion is a lot like politics. Once a bureaucracy is founded, it's hard to get rid of, whether it works or not.

Don't you think Catholics are aware of their bloody history, and that there was, and still IS, an Office of the Inquisition, and that the present Pope Benedict, headed that office while under the previous Pope John Paul?

Of course they know this, and they are still Catholics, nevertheless.

I sure don't see Protestants with clean hands either, their illustrious leader Martin Luther called for the burning of Jews alive in their synagogues, and all over Europe on Christmas and Easter, Protestants would go out after Church services and grab Jews and torture them, hang them, beat them, and burn them to death, and that includes women and little children.

None of you have clean hands, and none of you has the right to point fingers at anyone else.

Seems to me the current bishop of Rome (or the Pope as some call him) was the head of this office before being elected pope. Interesting.

Like the rest of Christianity doesn't have their own inquisition, aka Pat Robertson, Fred Phelps, Jerry Falwell's crowd, etc.

No one is forcing Protestants to conform to the Catholic Church. It's their choice.

Here, have some cheese with your whine...
