This question is only for Southern California residents. There is currently a county alert for SoCal residents about hazardous brush fires going on; one in Malibu, CA and an arson fire in San Diego, CA. Just curious to see who was affected by this and if they were online. Thanks.

Half the people at my plant are either evacuated, are staying home in case they have to evacuate, or simply cannot get to work due to the closed roads.

My brother works for the US Forest Service and is currently on a fire line while his wife had to evacuate due to the Ramona fire.

My sister in Poway has her kids at home because the schools are closed - and just had my brother's wife pull up in their RV.

I am monitoring the Castaic fire because if the close the 5 freeway it will take me several hours to get home.

Update (10/23): My sister in Poway had to evacuate. She just got the word that her house was saved.

It took my father 3 hours to get to work this morning when it usually takes about an hour. There are about 12 fires going, or there were last night at least. even if you are not near the fires, the freeways are a mess everywhere!! This sucks, thank God I don't work in Orange County anymore.

Dude!!! I live just north of Malibu. The friggin smoke is a killer. You cant breath its so bad. Its like standing in directly over a BBQ that is smoking. It hurts your eyesm throat and lungs. The sky is all orange and looks like its night. WInds are 50 mph so that doesn't help either. My house is not in danger of the fire but I think the smoke is effecting more people than the threat of having their house burn down.

No but I can see the smoke to the East and South from where I live (San Diego) I have friends 30 miles away who have been evacuated and my Grandma who lives 30 miles the other way has ashes on her car. Its very scary.

I don't have a home -- not anymore.

But working at the evacuation center at least takes your mind off your own problems. It's hard to think about what you don't have when you're trying to help a thousand other people.
