Drink alchohol? This is a weird subject. I choose not to drink. I used to drink before knew Jesus, but now i know I shouldn't. But people says: the bible says don't be drunk, not don't drink. But the bible also says not to make your brother stumble. Meaning people are watching me. "well if she can do it why can't I". And the bible says to be the light of the world. How can i witness with a beer in my hand?
So, christians, what do you think of drinking?

The bible says in Proverbs 20:1

"WINE IS a mocker, strong drink a riotous brawler; and whoever errs or reels because of it is not wise."

This lets you know that if you err because of drinking, you're acting in foolishness.
I understand that Jesus drank wine.
But it was also the custom back then.

In all honesty.
I understand when people say that a little wine is ok for like a special occasion or something. But i don't trust it because it's seductive in nature and it leads to drunkenness. And I know that that's not God's will for people to run out and get drunk.
I think being drunk is wrong. And people use certain scriptures to support their habit.
If they're running around getting drunk because they believe it's ok to drink.....they're doing nothing but satisfying the flesh and it's desires.

Gal 5:19-21 says:

19 Now the doings (practices) of the flesh are clear (obvious): they are immorality, impurity, indecency,

20 Idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger (ill temper), selfishness, divisions (dissensions), party spirit (factions, sects with peculiar opinions, heresies),

21 Envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you beforehand, just as I did previously, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

This lets you know clearly that drukenness is wrong. (Listed in verse 21)

No I don't drink...and I don't plan on ever drinking. It's wrong
and alchoholism kills lives...in so many ways.

I like your question

God bless

I quit(for the most part) before I came to God.... I do not usualy drink because I know that I can not be sure I would not go back to going too far... I do not see any problem with some who do... but...there are far too many variables.... and for that very reason, far too many variables... I... personaly... do not think it a good idea for one of The True Chriatian Faith to use alcoholic beverages on a regular basis..... but... that said.... I have had a beer with some guys working in the field... and while doing so had a good discusion on the God stuff... I had one... and I think planted at least one seed... so it was worth it.... I also have, perhaps 6 or 7 other times in the 7 years of my walk with God... at a family BBQ and other outings... all know I do not usualy "imbibe" and I was kidded about it... but no one was stumbled... and I did get in some talk about The Good News.... and I know now that, latter on, one did come to God... so.... with great care... alcohol is not forbidden.

Jesus drank wine. However, this does not make it ok, to get drunk. The Bible does not say that we cannot drink, but it does say, if it would make a Christian brother or sister stumble and get drunk, then we should abstain while in the presence of those who have a problem with alcohol.

PattsCool,
You have the exact same opinion of drinking that I do. I rarely drank alcohol before I became a Christian and since that time I have NEVER partaken of any alcoholic beverages because I believe that a light shines brighter without a heavy shade. Have a wonderful week!
Thanks,
Eds

CC,
Today's Wine is much different from the "wine of that day". It had barely any alcoholic content.

I don't drink, it's a waste of money IMO.
However, I don't think it is wrong to have a glass of wine with dinner or whatever.
Except, this one time I was at the reception (is that what they're called?) after my friends funeral, and the pastor who officiated over the funeral was drinking a beer...I thought, that just didn't look right.

I totally agree with you. I do not. The act of drinking alchohol alone is not a sin, but if it causes someone else to stumble then it is.

It's a personal conviction, as well as where you are. If you are out with someone who has a problem with it, I would recommend not drink as to not tempt them. If you are at home, or friends house that doesn't have a prob, I don't see anything wrong with have a glass of wine or something. Just don't go overboard and pay attention to whose in your company.

I am a Christian and I do drink. I see nothing wrong with a glass of wine or drink of some kind once in a while..Not every day, fall down drunk and lose your job and family type of drinking though!

Yes, I drink. How do I witness? Like any other Christian? I am no less of a Christian with a beer in my hand.
