Do you need to be catholic, Baptist, Mormon, Jewish.
Can you not decipher for yourself, apart from what everyone else tells you is true. Can we not make decision based only on what we want. Why do people feel like they have to latch on to weaker people.(people of Religion) who are mostly liars, cheaters, adulterers, Drug Attics. Can we not decide what we want for our self instead of going with the Grain. I am very much spiritual and have not went to church in like 3 years. I love what i know to be God. I love my choices that i make daily, free from outside input. i am not bashing any religion. im just trying to figure out what you get out of church and religion, since it is for the majority based on lies, deceit, and power. Can you not worship by yourself. Do you need other people to worship with you.. I mean whats up?

Thoughts, and comments please.

Thank you. I was hoping there were people like you out there somewhere. I'm atheist, but we share the same views about religions. I always thought religion only worked if you made drew your own conclusions as well. My conclsuions took me to atheism, but as long as you are thinking for yourself it really doesn't matter.
Basically, I'm atheist, but I completely agree with your decision. If religion wasn't as corrupt as it is, I might be in the same spot you are.
I'm sorry I can't imagine what the Christian God would tell you, but if there is a God I'd believe him to be more like your God anyways.
In conclusion, I strongly feel that if there is a God, he will accept your views moreso than those who follow him blindly.

I appreciate your question and offer this as an opinion... It has come to my attention that many who "go to church" still do not know what it is like to have a relationship with God. They are still seeking it through the ways that they've been taught without exploring it deeper for a more fulfilling understanding. I too love the choices I make daily, but mine are in some ways influenced by outside input... some strengthen my beliefs and others challenge me to look deeper at why I believe what I believe. I go to a church that many "Christians" (not all) would condemn and judge... in all fairness, so would some atheists and agnostics.

What do people get out of church? Some go for a sense of community... some get a sense of fellowship... some get a sense of belonging to a group of like-minded individuals... Some are lost and trying to find their way. It works for some and not for others...but no, I don't believe that you have to go to church to be a good person, just like going to church doesn't absolve you of wrong doing!

WOW! I love having the ability to express an opinion to a question without judgement! Someone MUST have the right answer since we ALL have the good old thumbs down... must mean I'm on the right track! To counter, I shall give all who've answered a thumbs up! too bad I can't do the same to my own answer!

Speaking from a Christian perspective, doing good deeds is not the objective. God has proposed that we become His sons and daughters and He will change our very being. Good deeds is not much more than a byproduct of that process.

Jesus has commanded us to love one another and so Christianity is not possible outside of community. Christians seek God through love for others, for where love is, there God is also.

Christianity is not a set of feelings and feeling spiritual is not seeking God. Worshiping God is the same as seeking God. It is not some ritual performed in a church.

But I think we need mature Christians around us to help us grow and understand. If you think your church isn't helping, then I suggest finding another church.

Just make sure you're being honest with yourself. After all, being by yourself offers a lot of temptation to just do whatever you feel makes you happy.

The choices you make by yourself are never free from outside input. Your society has trained you to feel bad when your behavior is unacceptable and good when it is. Choices driven by feelings are not your choices.

I agree. I find the idea of religion so simplistic and barbaric. It's hard to understand why people would chose to have their lives, morals, and values dictated to them by someone who is probably less spiritually inclined than a rock. Ok that sounded horrible, but I just wish people could be more loving and accepting toward one another instead of arguing over who is going to get into heaven and who is going to rot in hell for choosing "the wrong religion." What is the point?

because of the fact lots of the worlds greatest religions -- Christianity, Judaism, Islam -- communicate approximately peace and love for God and others. that's difficult and demands extremely some self information and attempt. it relatively is plenty much less confusing to be prideful, self-righteous, and judgemental. all and sundry is lazy and fearful of the difficult paintings in touch in loving God and human beings.

When Jesus was walking this earth there was not any religion. Religion was created more or less 200 years after Jesus died, by the Romans. Before religion people would meet in their houses and was simply called christains. Good question,I totally agree with you.
