My hubby just came back from deployment in Turkey almost a mnth ago. We calculated everything and the USAF owes us around $3, 000. How long does it usually take to get that money to us??? He told me whenever they decide to, but isnt there like some kind of timeframe??

one thing I have noticed.. when the military owes you money, they take their sweet time about getting it to you. But when you owe THEM, they want it yesterday.

seriously, it can take months. six months is not unheard of.

You should be getting it shortly. It normally takes about a week after filling out the travel voucher.

Did he take any advancements prior to going or even while deployed?

With Red Horse, where I was deployed about 50-75% of the time, It seemed that if we didn't get our TDY money right away, it would be in our paychecks no later than about a week later.

They are not going to hold up the money just because they want to piss you off. The money was already allocated for that particular deployment so the money is there.

It might be that, if there was a large number of personnel that were deployed, it could take some time for all the vouchers to be processed.

Did you calculate it yourself? If so, you might be in for a rude awakeining when you finally do get your pay voucher. I would like to know how much you actually get back, when it finallly comes.

Did he stay in Tents while deployed or in a Hotel off base/post or in Billiting - On base? That has a lot to do with how much he will get reimbursed. If he was in tents, then its possible they also had meals provided by the military which will null out a lot of the funds you think you might be getting.

Is this his first deployment?

I dont know about the USAF, but the USCG takes their dear sweet time. The way my BF tells me, basically because it's the government they do what they want unless the person points out the error. With him, they aparently paid him too much then arranged for it to be paid back, then took too much from him, and the "too much" that they paid him in the first place was wrong. So it's this big math problem that he has to figure out on his own because the government is being stingy. I don't think there's a set time frame unfortunately.

I wouldn't count on $3000 you figured, it's most likely wrong. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
