I doubt this is an Italian word; the way you spell it suggests it starts with an "h" sound and there is no "h" sound in Italian.

However, "Hund" is the German word for "dog", and the plural (dogs) is "Hunde" - maybe that is what you heard.

That looks like german, and it means DOGS (as the singular would be HUND). However, something that SOUNDS like that is ONDE (but that means WAVES, like sea waves).

Could be "onde" (plural noun) ? In this case it mainly means "waves".
"Onde" is less used as relative pronoun meaning whence, from where, from which, whereby or as conjunction meaning so that, in order that.
