I only offer the Truth. There are two reasons the unbelievers are here, either they be scoffers or seekers. To the seekers, I challange you to read the Authorized Bible through, not the subverted revised versions that have been jot and tittled into fables. I have found HOPE and just pray I could help all of you see what I have seen.

By the Authorized Version (King James Version) the one that we were promised, purified 7 times. The only version that is not copy righted! Pray for wisdom before you read and His Words will either keep you from sin or sin will keep you from reading it.

Well I'm very glad that I can contradict that claim. I do believe.

I don't know whether there was an actual historical Jesus or not. The evidence is very slim and I don't think there is anyway to know at this point with the evidence or lack of evidence we have. I am inclined to say though there may have been a real person myths and legends were built around. They may have been an iterate preacher, there were many back then, who got the authorities riled enough to crucify them which they did to thousands and thousands. Again lack of records or independent sources from Bible to know for certain. I don't believe this person was a God or the son of a God nor that their death satisfied some ancient tribal God's need for blood sacrifices so that humans could be human and not have to be killed, make sacrifices/offerings, and be able to worship this God in immortality. Makes no sense, no evidence for this. I think a religion probably grew around this figure and it borrowed heavily from the other religions that came before and existed concurrent if you look at them.

I am a very devout Christian, but I have to tell you Jesus did not come here to die. He came here to live. It is his life and his teachings we should celebrate. The concept that Jesus died as a sacrifice for humankind is based on a very ancient, Jewish concept that sins have a cost and ultimately must be paid. It was also a way to try to make sense of the senseless death of a loved teacher.
When I hear preachers say that Christ died for our sins I am reminded of an old Star Trek movie (or episode.. I'm not a real Trekkie) in which the Enterprise is highjacked and taken to a remote planet to meet God. When they arrive, God is indeed there, but it turns out God needs Captain Kirk's Starship. Kirk says, "Excuse me. But what would God want with a Starship?"
Its God, for heavens sake, the creator of this universe and perhaps more. Indeed, what would God want with a blood sacrifice?

I believe that a man named Jesus existed, and that he may very well have been crucified, but I don't believe it was for the sins of man kind, I think he just pi$$ed some people off who didn't want to hear what he had to say.

I will speak with the majority here. While there is no doubt that the named individual was crucified under the conditions stated and for the specified charges, it is the matter of divility that fails the test.

There is no evidence those events ever took place.

(Old books, written a hundred years after the facts, edited, re-written, copied by hand, re-edited, and assembled for political reasons do not constitute evidence.)

I used to, but now the question is whether god exists, and if the any holy book is a trustworthy source of information about him/it/them.

Most likely Jesus existed, but the details about his life are rather suspect.

Me.

Got any independent evidence?

How about something that was written down <30 years after the event?

Is this a poll or one of those set-ups? But yes, I'm an Atheist. I don't believe sins are real either.
