that allowed for starfish and some salamander species to regrow their limbs and not humans?

Who needs to regrow limbs when you can get bionic limbs!

;-)

I cannot ever hope to answer this kind of question with any fact as I was not around to see the birth of the universe.

All I can say is that by creating things, God must have just set things and motions and let evolution take its course.

Nothing I can say from a religious perspective can be determined to be fact until God itself comes down and tells us - no one can from that perspective.

Evolution.

To Randall C
If you pull out the nail bed or the hair follicle, no it does not grow back. These are things that grow continuously. Starfish and salamanders do not continuously grow new limbs and shed the old ones. Lizard's tails do not grow continuously, but many lizards can shed their tail if they are caught by it, and then grow a new one back.

Starfish can do this because they are a collection of organisms - not a single one. Salamanders and lizards have evolved this ability because it is helpful in their survival.

have been cases of young children regrowing lost fingers so the gene is still present-question is now to turn it on-----this must be something that is present in most life the ability to heal-----smile and enjoy the day
unfortunately this doesnt help either side out as it can still be argued both ways

My opinion: Intelligent design

Facts: Evolution

Can both be reconciled? Naturally. Science is slow to change, much like the rest of popular opinion.

Intelligent design. The theory of evolution is bankrupt. It is a totally unproven theory designed by people who do not want to believe in God.The theory was around for hundreds of years before Darwin. Soon after Darwin published his " Origen of the species" Louis Pasteur proved that life only comes from existing life. Only the same kind of species can reproduce. It is true a horse and a donkey can produce a mule. However a 'mule' is sterile and cannot reproduce itself.

That would be evolution, my friend. Intelligent Design is anything but.

Neither, it was unintelligent design. The Flying Spaghetti Monster screwed up and forgot to give us that ability.

evolution of course...and just so you know, there are genetic research scientists working right this minute to determine where along the evolutionary chain of events, we had the gene for limb re-growth turned off. when they discover THAT little gem, it is curtains for you fundies...(rubbing hands together with delight)...

If it were evolution then wouldn't;t you think that more species would evolve with that same ability? Why did it stop with the starfish and salamander and not continue on into the more complex species? Isn't evolution based on survival of the fittest and the passing on of desirable traits? Or are starfish and salamanders higher on the evolution chain than all of the other creatures?
