I'm talking about guys who are smart enough to be for example physicists or surgeons. Do they usually date very smart women? I'd love to hear from guys who are in this group or women who have dated them. I know in the end its down to chemistry but do these guys usually connect with women of similar intelligence or is this important at all.

They certainly don't want to be with someone they can never have a conversation with. If it became serious they would want to be able to talk about what happened at work or what they accomplished without getting just a blank stare.

In real life if they ran into someone at a party they would look at her appearance and her smile and hope for that chemistry. Physical attraction is the starter but their brains and their ability to talk intelligently is what makes them desirable in the long run.

I'm not going to speak for "intelligent" men but I like a women that I would consider my intellectual equal. I use a pretty healthy vocabulary and I have had women get offended by my using large words. I think it would be refreshing to find a woman who can appreciate my intellect rather than feel challenged by it.

The short answer to your question is .....yes.

I'm not in that rarified group but I do have two degrees, and I have to say that intelligence is way up there on my list. I want to be able to talk about work, discuss theology and politics, and enjoy the same books or movies. Having a girlfriend who was only eye candy would be great fun, but it would get boring.

I don't think so! A survey on a millionaire dating site shows that intelligent men prefer dating less intelligent women than them! Interesting results! Anybody knows the reason?

I consider myself as fairly smart in specialised subjects, (check out my answers and questions in astronomy). But when it comes to girls i like the ones who make me laugh and feel good, no one is to smart for anyone. Apart from that if you try and act to smart to other people that when you become a boring fart.

they don't have to be a super intelligent or anything, but at least average would be good i suppose.

(but again it 's more about the person as a whole...their persona... their smile... the way two people connect...etc...)
