Is tobacco addictive? i know normal cigarrettes are addictive, but is this only due to the chemicals and nicotine? how bad are the cigarrettes that you roll yourself for your health? it's just that i like the smell of tobacco smoke, not the normal ciggie smoke, and often think, well how bad would it be to smoke, if it doesn't contain all the harmful chemicals? i often get really angry, wound up and stressed out, and i think smoking tobacco would calm me down a bit? i need info and advice please people! no nasty comments either!

It's not a stupid question. I think it's a very reasonable question. It is still addictive though. I used to smoke and I used to roll my own at one point. Don't quote me on this but I think it might contain more chemicals. Please don't ever consider smoking, It is very hard to stop once you start. You will smell awful and your teeth will become stained brown and I don't know that it actually helps with stress either. If you start it will be the first thing you look for in the morning - even before food! The health risks would far out way any benefit that there might be from less stress. Perhaps you can try something else to help you, but please don't harm yourself with those things!

Tobacco is as addictive as 'normal' cigarettes. It is the nicotine in them both that we get addicted to, not the substance we are smoking per se.
Rolling tobacco does, to be fair, contain a lot less chemicals, as they don't contain the things added to ensure a clean burn. That's the reason a shop bought cigarette, rather than a home rolled one, with burn to the filter with no assistance from the smoker if left for a time.
It's best not to start buddy. There are other ways out there to calm down :)

Yes tobacco of any description is addictive i think the only difference between hand rolling tobacco and the tobacco in tailor made cigarettes is the chemical that makes them burn down on their own ( i think its called salt peter) but apart from that they`re equally as bad for you and maybe worse if you don't roll them with filter tips. Please don't start smoking as you will regret it i took it up when i was 13 and now am 26 and really trying my hardest to pack it in.Ive smoked both tailor made cigarettes and rolled my own.

I recently went 2 smokin cessation clinic & asked similar question! I smoke tobacco in the form of roll ups & apparently the same chemicals are present in the tobacco. I had carbon monoxide check & my level was 39 which is really high so it definitely damages your health as well. You'd be better off learning relaxation techniques - it won't cost you alot of money for a cd & it won't damage your health either.

First of yours is a very sensible question! Tobacco in any form is addictive... I being a smoker for last about thirty years realised it now ... I feel it is more addictive then hard drinks and budy let me tell you first you like the aroma of the damn thing then you take puffs and then start inhaling and there you are trapped. I am sick of it and still unable to give up.. Please do not fall pray to this menace. Try yoga, brisk walk, listening to your favorite songs or just talk to your best friend.to over come your stress issues.. BUT KEEP AWAY FROM SMOKING PLEASE

Smoking in any form is addictive and bad for you. However, you have to weigh up how much stress you suffer and what it does to your blood pressure. It may well be that controlled smoking will be more beneficial than all the stress! However your GP would probably not agree with this!

yes tabacco is addictive. Tabacco is in cigarettes to. So they both are addictive. It's the same if you roll them yourself. If you want my advice dont smoke. It's not appeling to other people. and one day you will try to get the habit away which will be very hard.

Yes, smoking anything is addictive. Both smoking in itself and what you smoke are addictive. And terribly bad for your health.
