Apparently, its due to mould in the ground because of the damp atmosphere. Best thing you can do is use anti-histamines and make sure your home is nice and dry. Use a dehumidifier.

Rhinitis at this time of the year is usually caused by spores of mould because of the dampness in the air. Treat as you would for summer hayfever but try opening windows and wiping up damp windows. If you do, try not to spread those black stuff on the bottom of windows. They are often the offending spores.

Im allergic to dust too - it turns out - so i was blaming hayfever when it was dust - maybe thats their problem - or they could have a cold/flu thing
could try antihistamines - see if they work - they shouldn't need a prescription or see a doctor or they could have an allergy test

It may not be hayfever. My right nostril has been streaming for months now and the Doc thinks I may have a polyps up my nose. I have had nasal sprays and anti histamine tablets, all to no avail. I am awaiting an appointment at the ENT dept. at the hospital.

I have a mould allergy. It is all year round but seems particularly bad in the autumn. Dust mite allergy is another possibility. Apparently even food allergies may cause hay fever type symptoms. If you are in the UK a doctor will not offer allergy tests unless the allergy is severe. Any antihistamine tablets should help.

I agree with everything Agent Scully said. I too have bad allergies along with the same symtoms this time of year because of mold, not to be confused with her partner Moulder. My remedy, a pink little pill called benedryl right before I go to bed. (They'll make you pass out if you take during the day.) If I need something during the day, I use a non-drowsy tylonol sinus.

I have been having trouble this year too. Normally, I do not have a problem. I have found out that the mold spore count is very high. The pollen count is almost zero. My Oreck air purifier is not helping. You probably need an air purifier with a HEPA filter.

Why can't it be hay? In my town lots of people use it for their fall gardens. I bought some and am using it to mulch and for my compost pile. A horticulture student friend of mine brought up some oil called 'spice of life' that you sniff a little. Supposed to be for allergies. Your friend might look that up.
