It doesn't really matter whether you believe in the Bible or not, God or not, Jesus or not, the passage you are speaking of is in a story in which the character is teaching in a parable.
In almost the same breath, He says, "become as little children, (or) you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven." If your interpretation is meant at face value, this one, just a few breaths before your question, has to mean only children will go to heaven?

It is found, among other parts of the Gospel, in Mathew 18:7,8,9.
Mathew 18:3, is the statement about children.
Like all teachers, men and women of His time or today, Jesus spoke in many different manners, to get His point across.

BTH = Big Thick Head

this is obviously a metaphore. if there is a part of you which would like you to sin, you are better off without it. youre eye does not make decisions for you, nor do your hands. address the part which decides, not the part which does.

I thought that was old testament...anyhow, isn't it more like "....it is better to pluck it out ....than to commit sin with it....". Also, I thought that we shouldn't take the teachings of the bible in the literal sense, rather figuratively.....Jesus is the new Covenant, so old testament rules no longer apply.....(except the Commandments)....

Again the interpretation is to let nothing cause you to sin. for example if your friends cause you to sin cut the friendship etc,

They're not because at least subconsciously they are aware that this scripture basically asks us to deny our humanity and try to cut things out of ourselves that were born there.

My answer is the same as beta. However, if you call yourself satan, why should you be bothered about Jesus and the bible? You are just a troll.

Well, it was attributed to him. If you believe in that sort of thing.

I think this is another of those "metaphors" I keep hearing about. I wonder why so much else is supposed to be literal...
