According to the Bible (Romans 1), an atheist knows in his/her heart that there is a God and “suppress the truth in unrighteousness.” Though an atheist is blinded by Satan’s lies, he is made in image of God and therefore has longing in his heart to search and know God. That's one reason why atheists hang around in R&S and discuss God.

I oppose the self-proclaimed followers...not the mythical sky fairie

EDIT:

you added "but atheism is more dangerous, dictatorships are only under atheist leaders."

Like who? Hitler (christian)? Hussein (muslim)? Stalin (trained as a russian orthodox priest, and never claimed disbelief but rather hatred of god)?

I have no opposition to any 'god', nor do I oppose anyone following whatever quaint little rituals or ceremonies they choose to perform to feel closer to their god.

What I do oppose is anyone forcing me to follow those same rituals and ceremonies, putting their religious dogma up in public buildings, or (worst of all) insisting that their dogma takes precedence over actual physical evidence and scientific explanation in science classrooms. In these cases, they are not just interfering with my religious freedoms, but with the education of my kids, and the kids of everyone in the community.

So, people who believe in some sky-due, whatever floats your boat man. People who suppress scientific knowledge, inquiry and education, that's totally unacceptable.

UPDATE:

All dictators are atheists?!?!?! Where did you hear that little, completely untrue generalization?

Throughout human history the vast majority of dictators, from Egyptian pharaohs to Aztec warrior-kings to Roman emperors, medieval kings, and most especially Renaissance royalty have all been religious. Many of them even claimed to be gods themselves.

It is true that some of the worst dictators of the 20th century (Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot) have espoused atheism, but there have also been many that were religious (Duvalier, Amin, Marcos, Pinochet, Bush).

To state that all dictators are atheists is an outright lie.

Is that not the same question you should ask Christians who try to persuade Atheists that there is a God? The answer is to try to persuade others who dont believe as you...the truth, the way as YOU believe it to be....OR to give opinions...which is what this forum is all about.

I am interested in religions in the same way I am interested in mythology - academically; otherwise I wouldn't have taken six classes in comparative religions in college. Aside from that, there are some that are intent upon putting their theology into law and I do totally oppose that.

Our societies are bombarded, influenced, and often controled by the constant lies that comes with those preaching god... We seek freedom and that comes from exposing these lies... The religious might not see it while living in their self righteous denial... but the lies cause oppression which leads to stress which leads to illness... Not only are the religious not willing to hear, but do all they can to keep us silent... WE REFUSE TO KEEP SILENT IN THIS MATTER

Not opposing god, just people that believe in him. As I say I come here because it is fun to see the man behind the curtain.

Because believers are intent on making the world a dangerous place for me and my kids.

If there weren't people blowing themselves and others up in the name of God, I wouldn't be bothered.

But faith based religion has a history of violence, family ruin, and stopping beneficial progress. So it is my duty to mankind, to point out that faith based belief is harmful.

I don't spend allot of time trying to tell kids that santa is fake, because kids don't vote.

EDIT----
Actually Q_hi_no, Dictators are traditionally very religious. Most of them have a sense that they are destined for greatness by God. The middle east is dominated by dictators who believe that they are placed in positions of power by God. Africa experiences the same thing.

The only countries that are not religiously influence are communist, and many communist leaders actually have only replaced God and religion with the state and power. They are dangerous because Communism isn't logical and needs violence to be supported, just like religion.

I don't spend anytime opposing a god that doesn't exist.

I spend time opposing delusion people who do exist, and are making incorrect choices based on that delusion. I oppose their choices which harm society.
