This is quite funny, because often the people who favor literal interpretations of the Bible and dismisses all Christan Traditions that aren't literally expressed in the Bible are the same as the people who say a Christian shouldn't drink any alcohol at all. This seems weird if you remember that Jesus not only changed water to wine on one of his most famous miracles (John 2:1-11), but also on his very last supper served the apostles ... yes, wine (Matt:26-29).
But maybe Jesus isn't model enough. His cousin John Baptist didn't drink wine (Luke 7:33). Maybe that's why the Baptists still today often don't drink wine ...

It only states it three times in the entire Bible that you should not be drunk, but if you go to Gateway bible.com, you will see that every time wine or beer is mentioned, there is a negative behind it.
Leviticus says
Aaron, 9 "You and your sons are not to drink wine or other fermented drink whenever you go into the Tent of Meeting, or you will die. This is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come. 10 You must distinguish between the holy and the common, between the unclean and the clean,
This is an OT passage:
Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'If a man or woman wants to make a special vow, a vow of separation to the LORD as a Nazirite, 3 he must abstain from wine and other fermented drink and must not drink vinegar made from wine or from other fermented drink. He must not drink grape juice or eat grapes or raisins. 4 As long as he is a Nazirite, he must not eat anything that comes from the grapevine, not even the seeds or skins.
Proverbs 20
1 Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler;
whoever is led astray by them is not wise.

I don't believe it does. I think the connotation comes from the fact that the bible is telling people not to overindugle in something that could be harmful to our bodies. As well, people do change when they become drunk and I think the point is to stop you from making an *** out of yourself. Even Jesus himself made water into wine, so I don't see how they can say you can't have it. I believe it was just meant so that you didn't drink in excess. Anything in excess is harmful to you. The health benefits of moderate drinking are proven so there isn't anything wrong with it.
My 2 cents

It doesn't, but it does say not to get drunk or cause your brother to stumble, meaning if it is a problem for someone else do not drink alcohol when you are with them.
"Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler;
whoever is led astray by them is not wise."

Proverbs 23:31
Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.
red is the alcoholic grape juice . Don't look at it
one drop will give its color to a cup.
moveth itsself upright describes the fermentation process

The Mayans kept large quantities of ritual obsidian. Perhaps you should investigate their beliefs concerning alcohol.

Obsidian? Or just coal?
I'm not sure the Bible was written in either.

it does not. in fact the apostle paul told timothy to take a little wine for his stomach. (1 timothy 5:23) what it does say though is not to get drunk.
