I would use gauze if you have it. If not use band aids. I lost part of a nail before and my hubby has lost many every time just used a band aid and let the new nail grow in never went to doc.

Cut the nail back as far as you can. You may want to poke a whole where the nail came up to release some pressure from the fluids that are built up in there. Make sure you clean it well and place a bandage on it and wait until it grows out. If you fear it may be infected see a doctor.

Go see your doctor right away. You should get a tetanus shot if you're not up-to-date. He'll take care of that major owie for you.

Then, there is such a thing as getting an artificial nail put on there to help protect the sensitive nail bed. You would have to find someone who knows what they're doing, and make sure you go to a reputable salon to get this done. Also, make sure, if you do this, you have it done with gel, not acrylic.

Cover it up for now and consider seeing your doc to be sure it doesn't get infected or you don't need the other half removed.

it would be extra desirable appropriate to cut back if off, yet as quickly as you elect for to yank it bypass forward. as quickly as you have finished that verify the fungus hasn't long previous previous the toenail and take it from there. If it has bypass to a doctor and persist together with his suggestion.
