Windows vista is very good operating system and excellent security system. but it need high configration of your system like 2.0GHz processor, 512MB ram, and 20 GB Harddisk.

Well the main difference is the GUI or (graphical user interface) and the built in security features example user account control.
Besides this it is the only windows operating system that is able to support directx 10 use for games .

Vista, being new, does not support many programs and software. It also has quite a few bugs in its programs (including problems with its email program). You also cannot buy a new computer with XP installed (that I am aware of).
