He was a man-made god, created as a human sacrifice to God. His followers have created a place of eternal torment where non-believers will spend eternity.

Jesus is the God-Man, fully God and fully man.
His mission is to give the gift of salvation to all those who were chosen in Him before the foundation of the world according to Ephesians 1:4 and only those whose names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life according to Revelation 21:27. will be saved. He laid down His life for HIS sheep.
We do not know whose name is in the book, but when a person dies without Christ, meaning not truly being born again only then can we know their name was not there.

John 3:16-18 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Jesus said...
John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
Matthew 9:13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God and He was sent to call sinners to repentance. He atoned for our sins on the cross by shedding His blood.

To teach people of God and ultimately serve as the path to God by rendering himself as a living sacrifice on the cross. All who believe on Him and know that He was ressurrected are saved.

CCC 457 - The Word became flesh for us in order to save us by reconciling us with God, who "loved us and sent his Son to be the expiation for our sins": "the Father has sent his Son as the Savior of the world," and "he was revealed to take away sins":
CCC 460 - The Word became flesh to make us "partakers of the divine nature": "For this is why the Word became man, and the Son of God became the Son of man: so that man, by entering into communion with the Word and thus receiving divine sonship, might become a son of God." "For the Son of God became man so that we might become God." "The only-begotten Son of God, wanting to make us sharers in his divinity, assumed our nature, so that he, made man, might make men gods."

Jesus is God, and He died for our sins on the cross and rose again. If you believe, you are saved. If you reject this to your dying breath, you will go to hell for eternity.
