Maybe it had to do with the way you worded things, or maybe people are just judging you. That is unfortunate. It is good that you have standards. I'm sure you would have turned the same guy down even if he were a football player. Don't take the people here on YA! too seriously, they have never met you, so it isn't like they are making an accurate judgment anyway. YA! is for entertainment purposes, sometimes people just give there opinion just to give one. I'm sure you weren't acting in any stuck up way. Don't let in ruin your day my dear! Best wishes!

Probably because of the way u worded it...

As wrong as it may be, the biast opinion of cheerleaders is that they THINK they're too good for ANYBODY. They're usually stuck up & real b*tches.

Thus, when u said that this geek asked u out but u don't like him, it made YOU seem like ur very detached from anybody else's feelings, and so they made the immediate connection with u & the biast opinion of cheerleaders.

Just try being a little more fragile with other people. Just because they're not standing at the top of the pyramid or they're not wearing the star Quarter-back jersey doesn't mean they're not human.

I wouldn't pay attention to what other people are saying. You do you. For some reason, cheerleaders come off as snobby automatically when you see them. They are always hanging out with each other. Then when someone from outside the crew comes around and is not in the "in" crowd, they get shot down and people view that as selfish or conceited. But that's a general perception. You have to get beyond that.

because you make it apparent that these labels of band or cheer are important to you by including them. This is judging on your part while asking for opinions from strangers and you choose to put these labels in your question. So you are judged as well and find that you do not like being judged just as you are judging another. Imagine how he feels???? It take courage for a boy to ask a girl out particularly when he knows these labels exist. That is why people see you as someone as they describe you. Be cautious not to miss seeing a person and only seeing a label, you could lose great opportunities that way. God bless.

dont call somebody a geek just cause they're in band.
and being in band, isn't bad.
if he was a jock, or popular would you have said yes?
if so, then i understand why people are calling you a bi***
you shouldn't judge people just because of they're social class,
he could be nice.
but if it was cause you just don't like him
and it has nothing to do that you two are in completely different social classes, or that you're not afriad of what you're friends think,
than yes, they were being mean not you.
and just to let you know,
not everybody's nice.

you are posing that question to a bunch of computer geeks who have nothing better to do on a Monday morning than kill time on the computer. They have all been rejected by girls like you before and the girls don't like you because you remind them of a person they knew/know and didn't like.
So you don't like the geek, I don't like high maintenance women. Not saying you are.

Spell check works well here, do take advantage of it.

As for people making assumptions because you turned a guy down, that's their issue. If you weren't attracted to him then it was correct to decline his invitation. Don't worry about what those people think, they're not living in your shoes.

if you don't like to be call names, then you don't going around calling people names. I don't see nothing wrong with you turning down someone if you don't feel any attraction too. just don't said why should i go out with him, he such a jerk. That will get back to his group of friends.

You are the one calling people names. If you are going to call someone a geek, expect to be called a name back... jerk stain.
