In both instances, Mary appeared to the little innocent children and spread her messages to the world. The Miracles that occurred there were accepted later and sanctioned by the Catholic Church as divine revelation. What do you think?

Yes, Medjugorje has eluded me because of the spelling. Little children were instrumental too in revealing God through Mary.

There's also the Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico that appeared to the Mexican Indian with proof of roses.

Yes, and others. Add Zeitun, Egypt from 1968-1971.

My aunt was one of those people who saw the Blessed Virgin Mary among all the Christians, Muslims and Jews. Standing side by side as one people.

rose-dancer, Thank you. :-)

Yes--

CJ, I'm sorry you are so misinformed and bitter. Someday you will be surprised to see how many Catholics and other so-called "non-saved" folks make it to Eternal Paradise.

mortgage--Catholics DO NOT AT ALL believe that Mary is above or even equal to God. However, she is revered as being extremely holy, a special Human hand-chosen by God to bear Jesus within her womb. "props" to her?? Just look back on what she had to endure b/c she said "Yes" to God! No wonder she is given a VERY special place in His House. Catholics DO NOT worship Mary; they only Worship GOD. Worship and Prayer are NOT the same.

I'm not sure about Medugorje yet; time will tell if what has been observed there is true or not. But both Lourdes AND Portugal have been affirmed; and even though various "seers" may have "seen" or experienced different things, it does not mean that the appearances did not take place. I think it is incredible that Mary would reveal herself to certain people in "modern" times; and the messages and information she has given people in these various locations has been relevant and important and helpful.

And although sometimes these "multi-person" revelations seem more spectacular than "single-person" or private revelations, the story of St.Faustina's interactions with and visions of Jesus Christ Himself are some of the most powerful things I've ever read about. If you want to be blown away by a miraculous story, do some research on St.Faustina and the revelation of the Divine Mercy!

Peace.

ETA: Wow, Epitafios; that is incredible!

Yes, I do, although the church does not require anyone to believe in them. It just says that if you want to believe in them the church has approved them. It may also be of interest that the church does thorough investigations (that take years and years) on these things before it approves them. And they do not always get approved. The appartions in Medjugorje, for example, have not been approved, almost 30 years later, and it does not look like they will be. As for appearing to innocent children that seems consistent with Jesus' message in the gospel. And I don't think children could have come up with those messages on their own.

God bless

To mortgagegirl101: besides Jesus Himself there is no other person I would rather meet than the mother of my Lord.

yup as well as Medjugorie! those who do not - that is their choice. Mary, at each visitation, has told people to pray - for peace, salvation, etc and always to Christ. at Medju she even told those asking they are to fall before the Cross and give themselves to Jesus.

those that can't believe shock me - i put nothing past God when it comes to HIm getting the attention of His people. For centuries God has tried and tried to get people's attention. Mary was used as His way to bring about His Message before -- Jesus CHrist - why not again. those who understand know that if Christ came Himself it would be the end of the world. I truly believe God can and does send Mary to be the mom she is -- trying to get people to understand and come to love Christ as much as she does!

Sure do. Add Medjugorje to the list also. Those who insist that it isn't so are just scared. Of course, they think of Mary as nothing but a vessel too. Probably the same way they treat their wives...

Yes. It is easy for me to believe that our Mother appeared to the children at both places. It is harder for me to accept talk of apparitions in windows and on toast.

In Lourdes the reporters were not "innocent children" dear, they were the children of the boss of the local "syndicat d'initiative", an organization in charge of setting up events that bring business to the town. Needless to say his little scam was most successful...

nope, i dont think so, and most miracles are even thrown out by the catholic curch, they do accept some where they think there is no way any concievable evidence to directly throw it out will surface so that they wont look bad in the eyes of the public. miracles are just a result of a hopefull mind and alwasy have a logical explanation even if we currently do not see it.
