I respect anyone who has the guts to stand up and say they believe in a fairytale that claims god came to earth in human form and sacrificed himself to himself to appease himself.

Some chrisitans do not deserve respect, when I am told by a christian it doesnt matter what I believe because in the End I will be Judged. Then I have NO Repsect for that christian. I live my whole life trying to respect others and all humans live trying not to "Judge a book by its cover" yet the whole point in the christian religion is to be exactly what the religion tells you to be, then it judges you, if you don't meet expectations then you will burn. How can something that knows infinite forgiveness Judge people anyways?

Either way people deserve respect for their beliefs if they aren't telling you its right or telling you what you think is garbage and their god will destroy your soul in the end.

"What do christians deserve?"
Christians deserve from the world honor, only because they are a light unto the world through the life that God gives them through Jesus Christ.

Christians do not deserve anything from God. God gives it to them out of love.

"Do people with religious beliefs deserve respect for their beliefs?" "Why?"
As men, as long as they are not harming others, yes. As people we are to respect their beliefs. In the arena of places like this, there is also some competitiveness which occurs that ought not to be counted as 'disrespect'. People here call others on things when there is a poor application of reason. That is not disrespecting in and of itself.

It very much depends on the belief and the manifestation of that belief. Most Christians do deserve respect. Why? Because:

Express their beliefs by helping others
They do not force it down non-Christian throats
Understand its limits
Allow reasoning to prevail

Any who believe they have the right to use brainwashing and child indoctrination are not worthy of anything but contempt

A person deserves respect for being a person. We show respect by not attacking one another. One may respect the person without respecting their beliefs. One must not attack the person for their beliefs or any other reason.

Yours in Christ Jesus

We Christians deserve the same thing everyone else deserves - hell. We have all (every last one of us) broken God's Laws (refer to the list of the 10 Commandments), and we all deserve the penalty.

However, in God's mercies, He is willing to forgive anybody who will confess Jesus as their Lord, even though we do NOT deserve it. "For we are saved BY GRACE, through faith. It is the gift of God, not by works, lest any man should boast."

If we would but acknowledge our guilt to God (not to men), ask His forgiveness, and repent (turn from our self-centered selfish lifestyle and start living for God), then God can actually forgive us, because Jesus paid the penalty for our sins (crimes against God). In fact, "He who knew no sin became sin for us, so that we could be made righteous" - He traded places with us.

Mind you, acknowledging our sins, repenting, et cetera, do NOT earn us anything - we already stand guilty, and NOTHING we can do will change that.

But if we DO repent, etc., then God can forgive us by His mercies and grace. And then He even adopts us into His Forever Family and takes us to heaven after we die! How great is THAT!!!

Every belief deserves respect and tolerance...just because it may differ from yours, does not make it any less valid then your belief.
Tolerance is the answer here.

Tolerance

The most lovable quality any human being can possess is tolerance. …. It is the vision that enables one to see things from another’s viewpoint…. It is the generosity that concedes to others the right to their own opinions and their own peculiarities….. It is the bigness that enables us to let people be happy in their own way instead of our way.

Christians deserve hell just like everyone else, dear one. But because we're put our trust in Jesus, we will spend eternity with Him in Paradise.

That fact rarely garnishes respect from unbelievers, but that's ok, we don't expect it.

God bless!
