Atheists being the minority kind of feel as they are being threatened and are constantly on the defense against certain hardcore christians that try to force their beliefs on others. Others say they are atheists and leave harsh comments to make atheists look bad. However in all my questions on here I always get the worst and most harsh questions from christians. If I ask something about a scientific theory, I get who cares, read the bible. Then I get all fustrated because just because I ask things about scientific theorys it makes me atheist and these people try to flame me because of it.
It's not just the atheists that are harsh and rude, I know because I haven't told anyone my religion yet when I ask scientific questions the Chrisitans are just as rude to me as I see atheists being.
However both sides leave just as many stupid answers as well.
Atheists like to completely avoid questions posting random stuff. While christians like to mention the bible in questions not even talking about christianity.
In short, its not just atheists, look at some atheist questions and you will see many rude christians.

By reading the answers to this question so far, it seems that the consensus is that most Atheists here stereotype Christians. And since some Christians have responded harshly in the past, that gives them justification for them doing it now.
But, it also seems like this is exactly the type of behavior that they don't like in Christians, so I don't understand it.
Edit: I have to respond to Antihero: You say it is "more important" to not be PC, but people only bash Christians here. Are they the only one worth not being PC to? That is a cowardly answer...the only reason people are not PC to Christians is because right now it is acceptable for some reason to bash Christianity, but other religions are still off limits. And if they aren't off limits, then why do I never see Atheist on Muslim/Hindu/Jewish threads laying out their brutal "truths"?

I get annoyed at the intolerance displayed by (mostly) Christians. I've been a part of Y!A for less than a week, and I am completely sick of questions like, "Shouldn't we be more active and show how dominate our superior religion is?" I also have trouble dealing with answers that aren't actually answers: "It's called faith," etc.
Religion is the reason for so much of what is wrong with this country. It teaches blind faith, and then we learn that we must blindly follow our political parties. It teaches ignorance and intolerance. I'm sick of it.
That being said, I contain my emotions for the first part and refrain from yelling at the ignorant people who ask and answer some of the questions on this site. I understand people who cannot contain such emotions, though. For me it is quite a struggle.

I hear this all the time and I have to point out that there is a difference in personalities as applies to believers and non believers. You will notice that non believers get right to the point. If you ask me why don't you believe in god, I will reply
I find insufficient empirical evidence to support the hypothesis of a god or gods.
That's it. That's all. It is a concise and complete answer. What more do you want? It may be short and to the point but it is not rude. Perhaps you find sarcasm rude. Some find it humorous. That does not make them rude.

Because the Christians just tell people they're gonna burn in hell for eternity. Maybe you don't consider that rude/harsh.
How could any atheist response be any more rude/harsh than wishing someone an eternity of burning pain?
Maybe you have been so brainwashed by your religion that you can no longer differentiate between kindness and hate.

I don't know but it seems to go both ways I try to stick to answering questions like this one. Questions that are addressed to atheists but I can only answer for my self I can't speak for other people. Maybe you don't find you're going to hell or other such nonsense offensive. Or have you seen a post saying " Why are all atheists so dumb?" Those are very common too.

As a Christian I can honestly say I find them no more rude than many who profess to be Christians. Perhaps if we as a group could be a little less jusdgemental and throw the "fear of God" factor into our questions and answers, they would feel less inclined to respond in kind.

Willful ignorance to the point of grown adults insisting on the belief in fairy tales... this type of thing begs for public ridicule. Instead of blaming the people reacting to the stupidity, try looking at the initiators.

I have seen it on both sides and some of the harsher words are from christians, as a believer I feel it just makes us all look bad when some of us are not....
