There are lots of color options other than white. (I'm with you; white is boring!) Light pastels are your best bet--but not Easter egg colors. I like the dusty pastels for the walls with white trim, personally. If there is no natural light in the room, stick to the light, creamy versions of the warm colors: yellows, oranges and red. This will make the incandescent light you have go further and be more flattering to visitors of that room. If you're going for a traditional or nostalgic look, these colors will work nicely.
If you want a refreshing, rejuvenating feel paint with medium blues and medium bright greens. Those give the impression of life, energy and cleanliness, and they are a bit more contemporary. (That's why so many spas use those colors.)
I was in the paint department at Lowe's yesterday. There on display are booklets of suggested colors for various areas of the house and one specifically for bathrooms. Try looking at those examples anywhere house paints are sold, and you'll get some good color option ideas.

I agree that white doesn't have to be an option.
Since this is a bathroom, you could try light blues and greens, and maybe even yellow and sandy colors- if that's what you like.
Some years ago I bought a travel trailer that SOMEONE had painted this blinding white and screaming yellow. I would guess that was about the size of your bathroom. I went with an eggshell blue, a slightly darker blue, and a lilac when I repainted it. And it looked pretty good!

What I would do is paint in a lighter color or even white, then stencil a scene on the wall. Depending on what you like, it can add dimension to the bathroom. A water fall might be appropriate or even a sea life theme would be good too. A sky on the ceiling would be a nice addition. You could also do a wall treatment such as rag rolling, sponging, venetian plaster in a lighter or medium light color.
There are many things other than just painting to enhance the look.

You are defiantly going to want to stick with a very light color. White is the best since it lightens up a room the best with no natural light...but you could go with a bright light yellow...an off white...shy away from dark colors such as blues..greens...reds..etc. So I would say white or Yellows, for pops of color you could get bright artwork and use contrasting colors for the towels and accessories and rugs. Good luck!

if your bathroom is a unsuite, it should match your bedroom, other than that any colour would be fine, think about putting in a large mirror to reflect more light and to make the bath room seem larger.

OK - snore snore on the white. You do not have to stick with white at all. I'd go with a blue, like Sherwin Williams "resolute blue." It's a nice, calming *spa* color, reminds you water, & it will look great with the white tile.

I would paint it in a cool green color with white trim. I would also continue the color onto the ceiling to make the ceiling appear higher.

Maybe a color which reflects the beautiful woman that you are. Perhaps a soft eggshell or peach with a rose boarder. You do like roses, do you not? @>--,--'------
