I have heard people say, I am having fun right now, I plan to make peace with God before I die. You don't know when you will die so why not now? What makes people wait?

You have pacified your conscience by saying that you would find peace with God one day . This is why you shouldn't wait any longer: If you have told one lie, you are a liar. If you have stolen anything (irrespective of value), you are a thief. If you have looked with lust, you have committed adultery in your heart. If you hate someone, you've committed murder in your heart. Your sin has angered God. The Bible teaches that you are His enemy. On Judgment Day, you will end up in Hell. But there's good news: "God commended His love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners Christ died for us." Jesus Christ took your punishment, then He rose from the dead and defeated the grave. If you repent and trust Him, God will grant you everlasting life. Read your Bible daily and obey it. God will never let you down.

Well Leslie Ann, I actually asked the question why people wait and are they going to make peace. The posting was meant as conversational.

I do love people even thought it's hard. However, even though are God is a God of love, he is also just and people need to know the consequences of not submitting to Him.

People wait for many reasons. Lack of trust in the Lord, false information about Christ, the Holy Spirit, and God. Many say that there isn't a God. Many more say that there is! Perhaps, people do not want to make peace with GOD because they will have to acknowledge, at least to themselves, that they have sinned. Things happen GOD will forgive you. You need only to ask for him to forgive you. Its true not one of us knows exactly when we may no longer be on earth, make peace with him now. GOD BLESS YOU....

The only evidence you have to say that jesus rose from the dead is a 2000 year old book that is drenched in more blood than any other and was more than likely the result of 50 separate acid trips. The crucifixion does not make sense. Jesus took our punishment? Since when does a punishment count if you don't learn from it? Anyway, a true God could make 1 + 2 equal 5 if it wanted to, and would not need to sacrifice anything, just re write the rules. Sorry but your religion is deeply flawed.

I have made my peace with God. Having said that, I will say that NONE of us are without fault. We are human beings, BOUND to mess up sometimes. I don't have to have someone thump a Bible at me, or try to scare me with the wrath of God to know right from wrong. I know it as soon as I do it. God lets me know when I'm "off key". I grew up in a very religious home. (Assembly of God) I am sad that I was taught more about how "God was waiting around to throw me in Hell or serve furious justice on me" if I messed up. I have since learned that God is a loving God. Of course, he doesn't like it when we mess up. I don't like it when my children mess up either, but if they do...I'm not waiting with a tazer, or sledge hammer to pound them into the ground for it. I am there to offer guidance. Same goes for God. I think if anyone can say they are "sinless" they are liars. If you think an ill thought, you have sinned. All we can do, is live to the best of our abilities, TRYING to choose the right path, and even then we are bound to slip every now and then. The great thing is, now I realize that I don't have to look to the left nor the right to find my salvation. I only have to look up...and it really doesn't matter what other "humans" think of me.
That's just my two cents.

We shouldn't need to make peace with God, he hasn't done anything to us, we must make peace with ourselves so we can have a relationship with God if we so choose. Unless we introspect, we can never find what it is that we have to give or what it is that we need to get from God. That's why worship is such a private act... It's between a human and his maker and no one else can say how, through whom, or on which time table it should be done. And as beautiful as it is when that relationship is there, it's strictly between the individual's soul and its creator. There's no right or wrong way of doing this. God is much more flexible than we give him credit for.

Yes, I try to make my peace of God daily, sometimes hourly as I go throughout my day. When I was a kid in College I read Franny and Zoey, which mentioned "The Enchanted Wanderer," which got me into reading the Bible again..and the words "Pray without ceasing," really impacted me.
People don't like me praying while I'm driving though...ha j/k

the christian god should be making his peace with the people and not the other way around. perhaps he should get off his pearly throne and help and stop watching home movies.

I am Pagan and I'm proud to be Pagan. The Goddess and God loves me and HELPS me. I am responsible for what I do. I ask for forgiveness for ME. I don't believe in hell and therefore will not go there. I will be given the help I need. I will learn the lessons I need to learn. Being thrown in a fire pit will not teach me anything.

Consequences my backside!!! I don't appreciate threats

Having the strength to just be you is whats important in life. Relying on making peace with others isn't, esp to such as a distorted thing as religion. If you stopped quoting things from the bible and started quoting what you think inside you. People would take you more serious !!!

Hopefully, you are making peace with your god each and everyday at some point! Because if you wait to do so, you may not have the opertunity to do it! Say if you are hit head on in a collision, or you die in your sleep at 28! Yep! I try and do it a little bit everyday. :)

The book of James say that if you know how to do something and you dont do it, you are doing wrong so i think that answers your question, if you are gonna go mess around knowing that you arent supposed to it is called "meditating sin" but if you find yourself sinning involuntarily just pray and ask for pardon. Beloved ones, Reject all that is mundane, i know we can all live without it and if you cant just pray and the Lord of lords He will separate your flesh from your spirit and that is the key: Flesh is weak!

If sinning angers God, then let Him/Her/It Bring it on.
If God knows everything, then God would know when and if I was ever going to be sorry.
If I was ever going to be sorry, then I should make it to heaven.
And the bible doesnt have EVERY answer!
And God lets people down all of the time
