I give more thumbs up than down, for most of my questions need a personal feeling or opinion, you can not give a thumbs down for someones opinion, that would be against the point of the question

I also don't believe in reporting, I leave that to the insecure and the ignorant.

I try to do unto others as I would have others do unto me. I give both thumbs up and thumbs down often for every question I answer. I usually pick two answers to give the thumbs up or down each time. I just close my eyes and then scroll and stop...whatever answer is closest to the top, gets the thumb. It's not that it doesn't make me feel good or bad, but I think honesty when someone is rating you is good.

Quite often. In fact I do so a lot to people who oppose my point of view many times simply because their answer gave me something to think about and was presented in a non agressive way. Yes I think it feel good to give thumbs up. It feels good to get them too.But lately I have been getting violations. I will need therapy before long if the violations continue.

I try to evaluate the answer based on its merits, so even if it agrees with my point of view, I may or may not thumbs up it. I will thumbs down answers that show a lack of thought or are just regurgitating especially if the regurgitation has already been proven to be wrong.

If someone makes a good point, or is fair and honest in their response.

I give thumbs up to answers I don't agree with sometimes, if I can tell that the person is honestly representing what they believe and rationally explaining why (as opposed to just yelling it at us and expecting we submit to their views).

I do it probably about a third of the time and that's when the answer is either funny or just a good answer.

I give thumbs down to purile answers like: Read the Bible, the Bible is a lie, liberals are traitors, neocons are racist warmongers, etc.

Fairly often... more so than I give thumbs down.

I have to admit though, I caught myself giving a thumbs up today to some one I thought was hot (on that basis alone), which more or less defeats the purpose of the system.

(and no, I would never thumb anyone done cos I thought they were ugly).

I read answers to view the opinions of others. If I am completely for it, I give a thumbs up. If it's just a plain answer, I leave it be. Same goes for the thumbs down. It doesn't enhance anything. It's just a matter of whether I totally agree, or whether I am totally opposed.

Not very often, I don't judge those who have different opinions, but I do give thumbs down to those who just want to make stupid and rude comments, if they want to be stupid lets them go back to school.

Pretty often. I just do it to be nice when I like their answer.

I only give a thumbs down when it is a long stupid cut/paste answer that I need to clear off the screen.
