read Mathew 24....to read what Jesus said about how it will end.
" When the Son of man shall come in his glory ,...he shall set the sheep on his right hand and the goats on his left; then shall the King say unto the sheep, "Come ye who are blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundations of the world. Then shall the Kings say uno the goats on the left; " Depart from me, you who are cursed, into everlastng fire prepared for the devil and his angels". - Jesus (Matt. 25:31-41)

The end of human life (as we are now) and the end of all life in general will come about due to 1. ecological changes that reach a point where no carbon based life form developed can survive, or 2. natural disaster such as asteroid impact, the sun going supernova, or 3.) some delusional human finally gets the means to put an end to all life without attracting the attention of the public while in the process of attempting to do so.

Im a pagan so my outlook is a bit different. I believe that God is the God of the entire earth while most other religions seem to feel that God is the god of man.
To my way, the world will not end. However, man might. If we force god/gods to choose between us and everything else that was created, I just dont think man will win out. We should be doing some fast fixes so that an impartial assesment of the state of the world doesnt make it look as if removing us would fix almost everything else.

The physical earth is not headed for oblivion although it may be headed for some serious and violent upheavals caused by humans as well as nature. However, the earth's equilibrium, its social fabric, its institions have been upset and ordered life as we know it on planet earth is undergoing tremendous, painful, and sometimes violent transformations as we move from the age of nation-building to the age of planet building. As we've never experienced anything on this magnitude, it is likely to be frightening for those who don't understand what is happening.

Not I.
“This is what Jehovah has said, the Creator of the heavens, He the true God, the Former of the earth and the Maker of it, He the One who firmly established it, who did not create it simply for nothing, who formed it even to be inhabited: ‘I am Jehovah, and there is no one else.’” (Isaiah 45:18)
