Ok, my truck was damaged front and rear.

Both headlights had fallen out and been damaged, the mounts were broken. So I was looking at the truck after I got it home and I noticed that one of the headlights was not new. So I wondered how they put the old broken one back in. They did so with JB Weld on two of the broken mounts.

I assume that I am rightfully entitled to a new headlight, I have the feeling that the repiar shop ran over budget and tried to cut costs.

Can I do anything about this, surely they cant fix my truck with JB Weld?

Check the estimate that was written by the insurance company. If the insurance company paid to replace the headlight - then it should have been replaced.

If the estimate shows the light should have been replaced - Take the car back to the shop and show the headlight to the body shop manager. If the headlight was replaced, the body shop manager should be able to produce an invoice showing the purchase of the new headlamp.

First of all, a reputable repair shop/body shop would never make repairs of this sort. Sometimes if the vehicle is old and new parts aren't available, good used parts are obtained from an auto wrecking/recycling yard and used to make repairs which is acceptable practice. Even though these parts are used, they still should be in good condition. JB Weld is a very good product, but this repair should have been done correctly. Contact your insurance company and make it known that you are unhappy with the repair. Sometimes repair shops do things the "quick easy way" because this means less time spent and more money in their pockets.

I believe you are correct about being entitled to a new headlight. Call your agent and talk to him about it.

Mounts in newer cars can be repaired with JB Weld but I don't like to do it. More than likely your truck has what is called a headlight capsule and they did not want to replace it for what ever reason.

Just find a way to get your agent to communicate to this repair shop that what they did is not acceptable.

Good luck

Yes, go to your local BBB, talk with your insurance company, seek advice with a lawyer, also keep receipts of what repairs were done. Take the car back to the shop, and let them do the repairs over, if they don't tell them you might see them in court.
