I have a windows vista home edition in my PC. one day i partitioned my 160GB hard disk and did some disk formatting (The problem is that i don't remember which partition was it that i formatted). Then i installed windows XP in the newly created partition. when i navigate to the "documents and settings" folder of my vista OS from the XP OS I can see that all my documents i saved when using vista are still present.

But actually the problem itself is that when I turn on my PC I am no more given to choose which of my 2 OS i want to load and the PC directly loads the windows XP.

Please tell me how to solve that problem.
How do I acces the Windows Vista.

Hi, u can't install an old operating system over an old one. Delete all ur partitions and install xp on the first one first. Then install Windows Vista on the second partition and u will be able to dual boot then using Windows Vista boot loader. I hope I helped.
Good Luck!

Unfortunately Windows Vista is earning a bad reputation in work and operational efficiency. I suggest you revert back to the other OS (preferably WWindows XP / 2000 / NT amongst Windows versions). Still better if you use Linux, Mac, or if you can afford to do some further trial & error you could try this Ubuntu which you can download or order for the free setup disc. This is something one of my computer tech professional friend has recommended. Get it from http://www.ubuntu.com/

Yes, XP over-wrote the Vista boot loader info.

Try GAG, free from:

It's a free Boot Manager program that automatically detects all installed OSes..
