Some people may not agree with the science of others, but that does not make it a hoax. A hoax is when someone who knows it is not true deliberately lies about it. Nobody is doing that.

No global warming isn’t a hoax; the planet is ALWAYS warming up or cooling down. If it wasn’t for global warming there would be NO LIFE ON EARTH as we know it.

The question is, is man the cause of this round of global warming? The science so far says no to not much. Even some of the pro-man made global warming groups are starting to back away form CO2 as the primarily driving force of global warming. Partly because the studies are showing CO2 may have reached the limit of what it can do to warm the planet

The thing the global warming crowd really wants is control. Control over what you buy, what you eat, what you drive they want power over you. If you don’t think so look at Kyoto it is estimated that it will cost $150 billion per annum for a maybe saving of .07 C.

To make the targets that Kyoto dictated, would mean higher fuel cost, higher prices for food, clothing, higher electricity bills, higher heating bills, higher car prices, basically higher prices for the consumers, on a maybe. And no business wouldn’t absorb the cost, they would pass it on to you and me. And you and me would get the bill, over and over again.

By the way have you noticed its the global warming crowd that protest the building for wind farms in their back yard, as in Ted Kennedy, or the building of new dams? Do you think you could build a Hoover Dam now? How many tons of CO2 has Hoover Dam saved over the YEARS its been in place. No a lot of people in the global warming crowd aren’t that concerned about global warming, think Al Gore, they just want power. And of course the ‘rules’ don’t apply to them, think Al Gore's house, private jet, etc.

The hoax being perpetrated is that mankind is responsible for global warming.

Global warming is real. No one is legitimately denying that. Where people are all screwed up is in presenting the reasons why it's warming. Thanks to people like Bob, the authors of the links he has provided, RKO, and dana1981, a genius in his own mind, the misinformation is spreading at light speed.

In spite of the fact the accurate, factual information has been available for quite a long time. The problem is, those who want us to believe it’s our fault have made it difficult to find.

Until recently, it has been next to impossible to dig up the facts. When noted scientists, climatologists, and meteorologists would write a dissenting paper or article the media, at a minimum, ignored them or worse case, immediately found as many commentators, politicians, and those scientists/meteorologists who were on board with their agenda to refute them, regardless of the facts. The science has not been presented fairly nor have both sides of the argument been given equal time.

Many scientists etc… who once were on board with the eco extremists have jumped ship once the facts were in. When their research revealed that the facts being presented were wrong they were not allowed to reveal it. In many cases they resigned to preserve their integrity while others were fired simply because they refused to spread the misinformation. Some were even threatened to prevent them from telling the truth.

The facts supporting global warming are out there and there are many. The facts supporting the theory mankind is responsible do not exist. They have been manufactured to support a liberal agenda that is lining the pockets of a lot of people including Al Gore.

Oddly enough, Al Gore’s greed and the liberals’ misguided belief they could make the public believe whatever they wanted them to, may have been their undoing. As a result of the success of Gore’s grossly inaccurate movie, “An Inconvenient Truth,” and the disgrace of him being awarded the Noble Prize for “his efforts in promoting awareness” in what is basically a lie, those scientists, meteorologists and researchers who still care about their integrity are finally speaking out.

ABC’s 20/20 recently did a report on that specifically.

So to answer the question… Yes and No.

Global Warming is real.

The reason for it that has been promoted by the extremists is the hoax.

Yes, but if you way so, you will be branded a Global Warming Denier - which is very much the same as being a Holocaust Denier in the minds of the brainwashed idiots who support this un-scientific theory.

In the scientific world it is impossible to get funding for your new project unless and until you bow before the uneducated masses and tell them that Globular Warmings are a fact and proved by science to be so. We're all damned. So switch off the heating in your homes this winter and stop driving your cars.

The message, like some messianic lunatic reads, "you are all sinners and you must repent of your sins and change your ways. For if you do not, God will send down extra heat to fry you up."

So, you don't have to wait to be cast down into Hell in order to fry. You can enjoy the experience right here on Earth.

The Greens [Communists] have taken over.

It's not really a hoax.

For some it's complete nonsence

For some people it's a theory which may or may not be correct and will likley be partly correct. The IPCC hasn't concluded anything contrarty to that.

For some like Dana1981 the teachings of the church of climate change is an article of faith.

For some, like the poster above who believes that the oceans will rise 10' in the next 10 years, It's a delusion. I can't imagine where she gets that.

Yes and many of the advocates know it is, that makes it fraud. they have alot to gain if they convince people of a climate armegeddon, money, more power, lower standard of living or lower quality of life for us dumb americans. ONe guy forgot his name said americans are too educated. what kind of crap is that?

If it wasn't for this they would come up with some other scare to achieve what they are trying to achieve. global warming which is a natural event considering that we would be freezing without it, is easy to be ambiguous with claims and it makes it easy to use because you can blame this that and the other thing by blaming global warming since most people do not have a degree in the sciences that deal with it and are not privvy to the research and computer models they use and thus cannot refute it without help.

since we can't verify the videos and photos and the documents that they show on the news and books and magezines how do you know it is true or false when they put a caption on it stating some thing related to global warming. heck they could take a picture of the atlantic ocean outside of new york with no ice in october and say this is the artic with no ice. I mean they lie. why do people attribute greater integrity to rulers, weatlhy coroporations and scientists then the average person would to their nasty neighbor or the guy up the street who gives you dirty looks when you walk by. power tends to corrupt and absolutly tends to corrupt absolutly, those aren't just words they were said and repeated over the generations because it is true, and it is observed, as opposed to manmade global warming which is not observable.

I feel it is.

I've found this site to be helpful:
http://www.ncpa.org/ba/ba337/ba337.html

It is perfectly reasonalbe to be a little skeptic about global warming because it is buried in political and economic agendas.

No doubt mistakes are made in doing research. Some falsehoods are done intentionally.

Data is not what counts neither is the science because it's swamped with opinion and agenda (especially when it comes to global warming where policy decisions have major impacts on all world economies).

There's still so much to learn! Let's not jump to conclusions. Granted we've done research. But scientist aren't always right. There conclusions aren't always right. And data is easily corruptable.

Blind faith in science is a little narrowminded especially with global warming

No, it's not possible for global warming to be a hoax. That's not how science works.

Gray is just a meteorologist - he studies hurricanes, not global climate. He's entitled to his opinion, but he's wrong. Here's a summary of the evidence:

Basically we know it's warming, and we've measured how much:

http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/img/climate/research/2005/ann/global-blended-temp-pg.gif

Scientists have a good idea how the Sun and the Earth's natural cycles and volcanoes and all those natural effects change the global climate, so they've gone back and checked to see if they could be responsible for the current global warming. What they found is:

Over the past 30 years, all solar effects on the global climate have been in the direction of (slight) cooling, not warming. This is during a very rapid period of global warming.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/6290228.stm
http://www.pubs.royalsoc.ac.uk/media/proceedings_a/rspa20071880.pdf

So the Sun certainly isn't a large factor in the current warming. They've also looked at natural cycles, and found that we should be in the middle of a cooling period right now.

"An often-cited 1980 study by Imbrie and Imbrie determined that 'Ignoring anthropogenic and other possible sources of variation acting at frequencies higher than one cycle per 19,000 years, this model predicts that the long-term cooling trend which began some 6,000 years ago will continue for the next 23,000 years.'"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milankovich_cycle

So it's definitely not the Earth's natural cycles. They looked at volcanoes, and found that

a) volcanoes cause more global cooling than warming, because the particles they emit block sunlight

b) humans emit over 100 times more CO2 than volcanoes annually

http://www.gaspig.com/volcano.htm

So it's certainly not due to volcanoes. Then they looked at human greenhouse gas emissions. We know how much atmospheric CO2 concentrations have increased over the past 50 years:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Mauna_Loa_Carbon_Dioxide.png

And we know from isotope ratios that this increase is due entirely to human emissions from burning fossil fuels. We know how much of a greenhouse effect these gases like carbon dioxide have, and the increase we've seen is enough to have caused almost all of the warming we've seen over the past 30 years (about 80-90%). You can see a model of the various factors over the past century here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Climate_Change_Attribution.png

This is enough evidence to convince almost all climate scientists that humans are the primary cause of the current global warming.

Mr. Jello got it right. The effort to pin the blame on humans for global warming may meet the definition of a hoax. We have been warming for thousands of years generally with some minor cold and warm spells along the way. We are just coming out of a cold spell in the 1960s and 70s and so some people can look at the anecdotal evidence of the recent history and believe. Some people are so programmed to believe that everything to do with human beings is bad and are thus susceptible to the propaganda and they lose their scientific objectivity.
