It most certainly is therapeutic. There is nothing like it, especially if it's from someone close to you.

I say yes! Most definitely! Every one needs the human touch at some point. It's very therapeutic and makes you feel good.

Yes they just proved it in a study. I read it on MSNBC.com. They sent a bunch of different women in for some sort of procedure, told them it would be painful & did scans of their brains while the procedures were being done. They all did the test 3 times. 1st time, no one there, 2nd time a stranger holding their hand, 3rd time spouse holding their hand. They were blindfolded so they couldn't tell when it was their spouse & when it was the stranger. The brain indicated that the pain levels decreased each time and had the most significant impact when the spouse was holding their hand. I thought that was cool.

Yes.
It is important to be touched by a love one. A nice, comfortable hug from a loving mother or holding hands with a spouse is some of the most important experiences of ones' life, to become a missed memory of the future.

Absolutely it is. In WWII the babies that were left behind ended up in hospitals and they were losing a huge percentage of them. They hired old ladies to come in and spend time with them, just 15 or 20 min each day to hold the babies. The survival rate of these babies almost doubled.

read something abou wolf's children, and about experiments on Children raised without human contact in 19th century Prussia.
these are the extreme examples of how children do not develop language or social behaviour when not having contact.
other examples are the soothing ability of mothers' voices and touch on their babies. or how psychiatrists or nurses can calm down stressed patients.

I would say yes. There are nursing courses where they teach touch therapy as a healing practice. it's not just massage, it's contact. And babies MUST have it - even babies in NICU respond to touch and voice.

Yes, in my opinion, and I read it somewhere a while ago too.
Not just the warmth or the feeling, but the meaning of it, that someone cares, is a good healer of the mind.

when i'm sick i really want company with me cause it really makes me feel better. i like to be held. when my son is sick i do the same for him. most illnesses are all in the mind to begin with. if u feel weak ur body becomes weak so if you feel that the comfort of another person will make you feel better... u will feel better. at least i think/believe
