I applied for an HR coordinator position and was asked to come in a week later for an interview. After my first interview I was asked to come back "tomorrow" for a panel interview with the final applicants (this was a Thursday). On Friday I received a call around noon asking me to come back the following Wednesday to meet with the HR Director (big boss). I am really excited, but I do not want to get my hopes up only to be let down. Do you think I have the job? It's at a large casino chain. Any advice would be very helpful.

No, I interviewed for one position up to 5 times, and although I did get offered the position, which I turned down, others who had 5 interviews as well did not.

What they are doing is whittling away the possible candidates. The first interview was to say whittle away half the candidates, the second to whittle away the other half and the third is to decide on the final candidate. Your meeting with the Big Boss is to let him/her see how professional you are and if they can effectively work well with you. Here's my advice.
1. Be confident but not cocky. Shake his/her hand firmly and look them square in the eye.
2. Make sure you know the history of the company and be prepared to ask some questions. This shows that you are interested in the company and not just the position you applied to. I would also ask the HR Director questions about his/her experience within the company. I always try to have them talk much more than I.
3. Dress very professionally. Show up in your best suit.
4. Remember, this interview is not only them interviewing you but also you interviewing them.

You either have the job or it's down to you and one or two other top contenders. Whatever you did in the first two interviews must have impressed somebody--try to think back over the interview and remember the questions they asked. If there were any that you didn't feel especially confident about your answers (maybe because you weren't expecting them and didn't have a good answer prepared) then use the time to polish your answers to those questions in case they come up again.
Don't act overanxious, but DO let them know what a good choice they would make by hiring you. Dress for success, and maybe have a few questions in mind to show your interest in the position (anything except salary $$ details--that's a no-no until you actually have the job)
Good luck!

Like one poster said, they are wittling down the cadidates. I think they are doing that for the first and second interviews. I do think that on the third interview they are compairing the picks so I think it might be between you and another possible candidate.

I had this happen to me on the second interview but the office called me 2 hrs before the interview and cancelled stating that they had selected someone to hire. There were second interviews before mine and they liked one of the candidates so they hired her on the spot. I didnt even make it to second interview.

What I have found that works is try to gather as much information on the casino and your possible job before the interview. It shows you have done your homework and know about what they do. I did this before a bank interview and got the job because I knew about the services that were provided before I got the job.

It's not over until you have an official offer. Don't let your impatience show. So far so good. They probably have several rounds of interviews because they are nervous about bringing people on who will have access to sensitive information. That can mean a good thing, maybe that once people get hired they stay on a long time. Treat each interview like the first one and hope for the best. Good luck!

Not neccessarily, but it looks good.Plan on giving them more info about your work experience,ie details.Ask more questions about the job in a positive way, like saying,I am really looking forward to the possibility of this position, etc. The HR Director is probably allowed to give final approval on his staff, hence the reason for the last interview.Think positive from now until then, telling yourself you will get the job. Then act as if you do have it but not to the point of arrogance when you arrive there. It will shift your point of view to actually doing the job,and any boss worth his salt will catch on to that. This should put you in the spotlight above everyone else who is sitting there nodding politely and nervous as hell.Good Luck!Attitude is everything!

Have you filled out W-2 form? It sounds like you got it, especially after that panel interview and the meeting set up with HR director.

For your sake I hope that it's a choice of you. Maybe I shouldn't be talking because I haven't had but three jobs in my whole life, but then it's not my choice, but my employers'. Wish you the best of everything and lots of luck in the job.

because it is a large casino chain that means, you must just be patient simply because its a large buissness and if they called you a third time that will simply mean that they like you alot and calling you in multiple time to get to know you a little better.
