first of all, i'm not naive on this subject- i'm in my mid 20's, have been married, and have a daughter. it's obvious to say that if you're having sex with no kind of protection whatsoever, then you can get pregnant right away. so, no one needs to say that:)

i ask because i'm having issues with changing bc pills- my fiance is overseas, so i'm obviously not having sex. for the first time ever, i went off of them completely to see how my body will handle my periods and such. (i have no health insurance, so going to the health department, paying full price for everything, for the "doctor" to tell me the same thing every time is not feasable anymore).

i just wanted to know what the real chances are. i mean, he can wear a condom. he can even withdraw- although, i think you can get pregnant from pre-***? we can also avoid my ovulation time, i guess....

what do you think about any of this?

not that i have to explain this, but the reason i don't have health insurance is that i had to unexpectedly change jobs a few months ago, and haven't had my new benefits kick in yet. in the mean time, my old pills ran out, and i had to get a new pap smear (as i make sure to do every year). issues of new bc pills arose when i had to go to the health department for a new pap, so i could get new pills and they don't carry the kind i had been on. i've been a lab rat since, and the one doctor there is an idiot. the pills she's been putting me on make me go crazy and puts my body in shock- and within a couple weeks i have to change them again. ANYWAY, having to go in for all this so often is killing my paycheck.. and does not mean whatsoever that i can't take care of my child. also, IF we did get pregnant, we would be estatic and would be fine financially. obviously, if you can't take care of yourself, then no, you don't need to have kids.

Yes you definitely can get pregnant from pre ejaculation, i have had 3 babies using the withdrawal method (in the days when we didn't know about pre ejaculate). As you probably know, no birth control is 100% safe, but by not using anything you are dicing with an unexpected pregnancy. The top and bottom of it is, how fertile you and your partner are.

I think you have a 90 some % chance of having those methods be effective - except the pull out method - it's not really a method at all and won't save you from anything.
If you don't want to be pregnant, I would use BC pill or a diaphram and spermicide or the Sponge WITH condoms and I would avoid days 13-17 of your cycle. It's still risky - there's always a risk.
The only thing that worked for me was breastfeeding and always using protection. My husband had a vasectomy after our baby #4 was born, so now I don't worry.
Hope that answers the question.

Well it's different for everyone. Some people can have full unprotected sex and not get pregnant and others can use birth control and get pregnant. I would recommend looking up a planned parenthood in your area if you have them. You can get a free pap and birth control pills if you say you are not working. Even if you are then they are still very very cheap. I took them before and it cost a total of $16 a month. If your fiancee is not used to wearing a condom he probably won't want to start.

Condoms are only slightly less effective by use than the pill. The pill isnt 99%, thats only in a controlled perfect test environment, theyre really more like 93%, and condoms are in the mid to high 80%.

Using a condom correctly each time will work just fine, thats all we use.

The pull out method is only a slightly less effective way of making babies, not a way to avoid them. It takes much longer to get pregnant, but it will happen. Theres always little swimmers that jump the gun.

Even if sperm and egg are in the body at the same time its not 100% that you'll get pregnant.

Trust me, if you use them right condoms will work just fine.

I believe you could be playing with fire! You can't afford to have a physical or pay for BC pills but, remember you can't afford a child either. Your health is so important really! Think of your other child you really need this physical yearly and if nothing else use the health department or setup monthly payments for your visit and you could always use something else for protection ask a nurse or Dr the different options you have but, its important for you to have routine checkups you never know when it could safe your life! Best of Luck!

my husband and I used condoms and only conceived when we were wanting to. I would chart your cycles so you know when you're ovulating. Then don't do anything with or without condoms during that time just to be safe.
Good luck.

I think that if you are very careful with charting your ovulation and your period it is possible not to get pregnant, especially if he is willing to wear a condom. Good luck!

A woman of your age has a 25% change of getting pregnant every month.....that's trying to get pregnant...but I'm assuming that it would be close to that even if you are not trying to get pregnant....
