Namond should try reading the question! b4 answering
I think you will find that a lot of Atheist have read the bible probably more than some Christians. We have the ability to see what is written and deduce through logic its meaning, but the Christians read with closed eyes and some only read the verses marked out for them. The truth is that Christian churches don't read the bible, they interpret it as allegoric, but they are only open to their own interpretation, others are just wrong!!! don't you know.
the NT bible was written by men, men without the help of God and the motive of justification to Paul's Vision
it is all tripe.

i to am a nonreligeous person who has read it to. i found nothing in it that moved me. just a history book. So and so attacked so and so this city burned down, that city suffered an earth quake so what happens all the time . the storie in the OT were past down orally for up to 6000yrs before being written down and must have been exaggerated. Just a collection of events that the uneducated people of the time could not explain. As for the NT its not worth the paper its written on. It's was written for and edited by the dying roman empire.

As far as I am concerned most of the Old Testament with the exception of Genesis really concerns the Hebrew/Israelite peoples trying to become a nation while struggling with obeying God while dealing with social problems, I see that this new nation has confidence and motive to believe they are the chosen people of God but also abusing this at times by violence and arrogance while sometimes making God fit their behavior instead of behaving as God demanded.
I n the New Testament we finally come to see through Christ the God Who is love and mercy but at the same time just and more acessable to His peoples and not portrayed from Judaisms conquering nationalistic attitude.

Now you know God isn't just love. God will cause his wrath to come down on people if they reject him and go after other gods. But see when Jesus came God extended grace to everyone. But that wrath will come out again in the Tribulation.

Nope. You've got it right. The bible should be taken as seriously as any other comic book. As for God, he's the most bloodthirsty monster ever created in the mind of man.

They should have included one - something that explained that all the ideas were cooked up by desert peasants whose idea of a deity was based on vicious human despots.
