It is wrong for a Christian or any other people (theist or atheist) to give poor people a beer instead of giving them bread when they are hungry.

If there is beer in the fridge, i see nothing wrong with offering it to anybody, with the option of coffee or a soda or would You like a bottle of water? That isn't charity, just good manners. When giving commodities, though, i would rather try for products that can be consumed by children as well as adults.
Isn't the beer kinda warm in the trunk of Your car? I don't guess it matters, if a person is thirsty. God Bless You.

Friend I see no mention of beer, But it does say give them strong drink to those who are ready to perish, Now read verse 8 Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction. You can not just take one verse & try to make a doctrine out of it, Read the whole settings. By the way, I knew a man that froze to death because HE refused to go to a shelter, guess what, he had $54,000.00 in the bank, so there are true homelesss people & there are those that want to be homeless.

I don't think that it is totally wrong to give them beer, but I think it would be better to give them food or perhaps a little money. If you know where they could get some serious help finding work or overcoming problems, you would help them in a long term way by telling them about it.

If a hungry person asks for food they want food, I am sorry to have to be the one to tell you this but not all out of work people are drunks! I saw a man with a sign like this once and that is just what I did. I went to the sub shop next to the grocery store and bought him a sandwich, bag of chips and a large fountain soft drink.
Jesus said "I thirst" and was given vinegar!

Yes I think it is wrong because this is not a necessity. I think when you are helping someone less fortunate it should be with those things that will provide for basic needs (food, clothing, shelter, or possibly employment resources). Providing a means by which someone can stay drunk and stay 'down' in life is not helping them.

Why don't you tell the rest of it?
"It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, nor for princes intoxicating drink; Lest they drink and forget the law, and pervert the justice of all the afflicted. Give strong drink to him who is perishing, and wine to those who are BITTER OF HEART. Let him drink and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more."

6Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.
7Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
this is KJV the true word of God
Strong drink would be the same as a sedative to one in the hour of death. (humane way)

Whether you be a Christian or not, there's nothing wrong with giving beer unless the poor bastard's a teetotaler.
