What is a religious fanatic ?

Compared to a "normal" religious person ?
Is that someone who believe in creationism ? Someone who put absolute faith in his priest or imam ?
Someone who divides the world between THEM sinner and US ? Someone who believes literrally what is in the bible ?
Someone who doesnt reconciliate reality as seen by science, and the message of love/tolerance in the religious texts ?

For the believers here, how do you characterize a fanatic ?

A religious fanatic is one who has complete faith in his or her high-school biology teacher. Or one who has the desire to explain the origin of everything without a Creator at all costs; they MUST believe in evolution. Evolutionism is intrinsically an atheistic religion—the religion of secular humanism. And there are plenty of fanatics in it.

One who goes beyond all reason. Neither the Bible nor the Koran teaches it is good to mutilate ones self. By cutting yourself or blowing yourself and others up. Usually these people have been told by some evil person this is what is expected of them. They have been conditioned as much of Christendom has, to never check for themselves what is actually written. So they will go past all moral sense.

In my view a religious fanatic is someone who is prepared to do ANYTHING to impose his views on others. By anything includes blowing people up as a suicide bomber or creating an Inquisition.

I'm a non-believer...so my answers will be different.

No religious fanatic would call themselves one, I don't think. They ALWAYS think they (for example) that they are doing their 'God's' work...or repelling 'Satan'...etc

Osama Bin Laden thinks he is fighting 'Satan', and 'God' is with him.

George Bush thinks he is fighting 'Satan' , and that God told him to invade certain countries.
