I have an old friend who's really nice n sweet but lately he's been acting differently and tried to hug and kiss often...I try to resist but at the same time try not to offend or hurt him...but i'm confused how to react. I'm not adverse to his approach but I don't think there's a future to this relationship!

You have to tell him straight up, that you are only friends and that is all there will be. He may think he is in love with you. You have to tell him, you are not interested in moving your relationship any further, because it would be like dating your brother.
Be honest, dont lead him on, in any way

Your attempt to resist should have been obvious to him that you are unresponsive.What exactly you mean to say, when you say that you are not adverse to his approach ? You have to decide one way or other firmly and stick to it.
