Why Do Christians keep going on? Because it is truly the greatest story ever told. How does it work, very simple, you and I and everyone else owed a debt we could not pay. The debt for sin, is death. Christ did not owe this debt, but he paid it for you and I so that we might live. Why would a atheist mother die to protect her children? In her view, death is the end. There is nothing frighting about that. In her view, we all will get there at some point, so what difference does it make. So you are saying she is worried that they might be harmed in the here and now, but she does not care where they will spend eternity? Is she that positive that she is 100% ccorrect that she not only will be willing to gamble with her eternity, but that of here children as well? Is that certainty, or stupidity?

1. Before Christ came, Jehovah was the God of Israel. Gentiles could not call Him their God. They were simply lost and without Him. The Jews had to have a high priest to talk to God for them, and make sacrifices for the remission of sins.
2.When Christ came, that all changed. A high priest was no longer needed (which would explain why the religious leaders of that time were so upset at Jesus, and sought to kill Him). People could now talk to the Father, and ask for forgiveness in the name of Jesus, without the need of of any religious leaders. He also brought the love and forgiveness of the Father to all nations, in every corner of the world, so that Jehovah could be the God of us all.
That's why we go on and on about Him. Your comparison is like comparing feeding a stray dog to feeding the hungry children of the world. God bless.

It does seem to be an extreme reaction in a way. From what I remember when God killed animals to cloth Adam and Eve, he shed blood so "blood covers sin". This was why he wanted blood sacrifice as a remembrance of that and a foreshadowing of Jesus being the perfect sacrifice.
It still seems like that there should have been a clearer, cleaner way to give man freewill and accomplish the same thing.

When Adam and Eve were in the garden before the ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil they knew nothing of sin. They were place to rule over it and to take care of it.
When they ate of the fruit from it in they bowed their knees as it were to satan and he had authority over it which was from them. The Bible says that satan told Jesus worship me and I will give you all the kingdoms of the world and the glory or them. Then Adam and Eve were aware of sin. And Jesus had to kick them out of Eden so that they would not eat of the tree of life and be for ever in their sin. Jesus died to cover the sins of all man and to get the title deed as it were that they had turned over to satan back. Which He did when He held captivity captive and made a show of the satan openly after the resurrection.
This is a very quick version-----Read the Bible

As used in the scriptures, to atone is to suffer the penalty for sins, thereby removing the effects of sin from the repentant sinner and allowing him or her to be reconciled to God. Jesus Christ was the only one capable of carrying out the Atonement for all mankind because he was pure. Because of His Atonement, all people will be resurrected, and those who obey His gospel will receive the gift of eternal life with God. When Jesus was crucified he had come to earth to receive a body and could feel all emotions and pain we could. So in fact the pain he went through on that cross and in the garden were unimaginable. Knowing the knowledge that we are all sons of god and will come back to life, not necessarily earth but heaven or hell.

merely like I replied a question previously this could be somewhat comparable. historic scribes invented alot of biblical historic past. in case you learn historic faith, you will surprised on how plenty similarities the bible has with egyptian legends and literature. To define the bible by way of fact the e book of God is biased. In egyptian literatue there is likewise 3 assume Godheads. Human form are in seek of an stronger capacity.... If there have been no regulations, society would be chaos....

God created the world, so he can decide how it works. Just like a sculptor decides how his creation will look. God is holy(meaning it is impossible for him to lie or to do any evil) and all sin is a capitol offense. Its like "gravity". It just is, it's the way things work. All sin is spiritually fatal and everyone sins, so we all have a fatal spiritual disease and only one thing will cure it - the blood of a sinless sacrifice.
For God to send Jesus to die, means that God had to put his very life into Jesus and allow the one he loved best to suffer in the place of all of us. Jesus had to choose to die, too. They both chose a way to rescue us because God loved us and there was no other way to do it.
You say, "Why didn't God just make it some other way?", it has to be because there is no other way. Asking if it wasn't a bit unremarkable.....think about this a moment he was stripped, beaten within an inch of death, had spikes driven into him to hold him on the cross where he had to suffocate or pull himself up on the spikes in his feet to get a breath of air and then God turned away from him as the force of all the evil of all times flooded him as God judged our sin in him. If you think this sacrifice is unremarkable, it's only that you have no concept of what really happened. Jesus had never sinned and never been seperated from God's love. On the cross it was worse than being raped, battered and violated other ways a million, million times. There's no way to even put your mind around what he went through........
I know you don't get it, I only wish you understood it really was a sacrifice made on your behalf as well as mine. The only cure for sin has ever been the blood of a SINLESS sacrifice. All I can say is this, If you ever really want to know why we Christians go on about Jesus....Just ask God to communicate it to you. I promise you he will. Intellectually the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus will always seem stupid to you without faith in God. In I Corinthians 1:18, the Bible says the word of the cross of Christ is foolishness to them that are dying(spiritually) If you ever ask God for faith, it will come alive to you in ways that will change your heart and life forever.
But when you ask about Christianity, just for argument's sake, the Bible will always seem weird and so will Jesus' sacrifice. Some things only make sense with faith.

They cant really understand it or explain it other than saying hes the truth or he doesnt lie etc, all of which dont really explain the issue at hand of alternative paths he could have chosen at that given time , instead of dying and making everyone feel guilty for something which is supposed to have happened centuries ago

because blood had to be shed, Adam and Eve ate from the tree of life. Now they had sin in there blood, so in the Old Testament they used to sacrifice lambs, and something with there blood. Than came Jesus which had to shed blood for our remissions of our sins. So now your question is why was the tree of life even put in the garden? Well that is something I don't think we can answer. I would say it is something along the lines of free will, the choice to make or break. But that is just an opinion.

Jesus died for our sins, if we made one sin, we would be sent to Hell. Because of Jesus and the pain and suffer he went through, we are aloud to go to Heaven, but on one condition, if you accept Christ as your savior and Lord and beleive that he died on the cross.
