I'm sure our society is to blame for a lot of the 'junk crap' our kids consume. I raised my kids on all the junk too. I regret doing it, but only one out of the six is overweight and she's doing something about it.
I would offer them all the fruits and veggies they would eat and STOP going to fast food restaraunts, if you're going out to eat choose a place that does home style cooking. One thing that works is having the kids help with preparing the food, and even cooking it; they're old enough.
It's up to you as their Mom to lead them in the right direction, so you need to stop eating the bad stuff too.
Good luck!!!

First of all, demonstrate that you have some respect for yourself by not permitting their preferences to bias your performance as their mother. They'll probably find ways to eat out more often as they get older, which will only make things worse for them if you can't rein in their diet at home.
Another big part of it is simply portion control. If they're like I was, they'll eat whatever's on their plate, well past when they don't honestly feel hungry. Try to rid yourself of the expectation that the amount they _can_ eat is what you ought to prepare. There are a million sites online that will tell you how many calories are in so many ounces of broccoli... think about that when you cook for your family!
They may resent it, particularly at first, but if you're open with them about why you make the nutrition choices that you do (which I assume you'll research somewhat to ensure balance and adequate sustenance), they'll come to appreciate it in time. And besides, at that age it's really tough to keep them from resenting you anyway, so you may as well control source of that resentment.

Provide them with good meals, and 3 snacks, but limit the amount they can eat at one time. It will take some time for the carb lose to hit them and work through it, but after that they will be fine. If the food is not in the house, they can't eat it. If they get upset, OOOOOOOOOOh well, they'll get over it. You are the parent, they are the child. You might be saving their life, by restricting some of their food.

They can have plenty of food, but perhaps they're not aware of what nice 'real' food there is out there, instead of all the sugary, fatty junk they think they love? Do you cook?
Let them get upset! They'll eat decent food if they're hungry enough. You're doing the right thing because it's the healthy thing and will help them grow into healthy adults. You wouldn't take their complaints seriously if they complained they couldn't get their cigarettes or booze, so treat junk food the same way...

This is a difficult one. They need lots of other stuff to do that is not related to food. Sports! Hobbies! Fast food should be limited to maybe one to two nights a week. Don't keep tons of junk food in the house. It maybe cheap but...your children will pay the price. They get upset, oh well, you are the parent!
Good luck!

my son is 9 this last year he has gained a lot of weight he eats all the time non stop on weekends . came home from school one day and ate like 3 glazed dougnts and 2 big pickles and i always cook a big dinner he woofed that down too, but he also always eats fruit nonstop it is not just junkfood. does your kids get any exercise or are they like mine and glued to the video games? i was hoping this was just a growing stage but if your kids are 13-14 and still doing it sounds like i better worry more about what he eats or he is going to be huge.

omg, im the same here, my 8yr old weighs 48kg!
hes so addicted to food, and if i deprive him he gets all sad, so i try and limit these fattening foods
when we shop i let him choose the healthier snacks, like diced fruit instead of jellyfruit tubs, or rice crackers instead of chips, or weight watchers fruit bars instead of muesli bars,
but it gets hard on weekends, we get takeaway once a week, and he sure fills up on that day, lol
