Why is it that sandwich box manufacturers cannot seem to make boxes which bread can be fitted into without cutting bits off and why bread makers cannot make bread in the shapes and sizes to fit the boxes? Sooo frustrating.

This may sound weird, but I enjoy a good tomato sandwich. Since you don't eat mayonnaise, I'd suggest just drizzling a little oil and vinegar on it to moisten things up, but I usually eat it with ~4 slices of tomato and some light mayo. It's pretty good as far as 'veggie' sandwiches go. Anyway, I also like chicken with avocado, a thin slice of tomato, some sweet baby lettuce, and maybe a couple slices of bacon. I usually eat this sandwich as a wrap or on Jewish rye bread. If I eat it as a wrap, I get those sundried tomato/basil tortillas they make these days. They're pretty good, and it also cuts back on the carbs/calories from bread. Fish (catfish, tilapia or other 'white' fish are my favorite), coated in panko or breaded, with remoulade and any veggies you like. Usually eat this on a French baguette because the fluffiness of the bread complements the crunchy sandwich. Portabella mushroom(s) with your normal sandwich toppings. They have a good flavor and are often substituted for hamburger. I like these sliced up and in a wrap as well, but they work in pitas or any other bread you like. I'm not aiming for a win here so that's all I have. Plus it's 1:30am and this is making me hungry. Good luck with the sandwiches!

I have no idea...!
Even wikipedia doesn't seem to know!
I have the same problem with bread and toasters.
My toaster is about 2cm too small to toast the bread side ways, so I've got to do it vertically and keep turning it round or I get half burnt, half warm, bread!!!
There should be a government enquiry into this.

Lol that is true it could be to do with the types of boxes they are using, but also the way they are being packaged,I agree it can be annoying to get littls pieces cut of or 'squashed in' but I guess it's due to mass production and it's cheaper to make lots this way.

I buy those semi disposible plastic containers at the store, there is one that is perfect for sandwiches, has a little room left in it but the sandwich doesnt get crushed.
I think the brand is ziploc.

I bought a brilliant lunch box in tesco. My husbands sandwiches fit in it perfectly along with his banana and cakes etc. It has only taken me 27 years to find one.
