When you are born again, you are made righteous ~ you were justified ~ you were sanctified!
You can read in Rom 8:1, we see that "there is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit".
Did you know that you were justified? We have all sinned and come short of the glory of God (Rom 3:23), but thankfully we have recieved the righteousness of Jesus when we were born again (Rom 5:17) and justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus (Rom 3:24). We have been made the righteousness of God (2 Cor 5:21). You have been sanctified throught the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all (Heb 10:10). Read HEB 10~God doesn't wish for us to feel guilt and less than worthy due to sin.
God sees us as righteous even tho we repent of our sins.

I know many follow a more 'sin conscious' doctrine, but do you consider these scriptures? Do you feel the weight of sin? No judgements please :D

Please take note that I do not use this as an excuse to commit sin... I always try to have great fruit and avoid sinning, and repent when I do... but it helps to know that as we all 'stuff up' as is the human condition... God is not condemning us! Take care, God bless

Definitely Mark! We are the righteousness of God... thats where our righteousness is, not of ourselves, but as the scriptures say, it is the gift of righteousness through Christ.

If you read carefully, you will see that I am not referring to SELF righteousness, but the righteousness of God in us.

Yes! God has accounted me as righteous. Not because of any good works that I have done. The saved appropriate (take on) God's righteousness when they believe in Jesus Christ. Romans 3:22 gives a good example of this as when we believe in Jesus Christ, the father places His righteousness upon us. Perhaps another way to put it would be by saying that the lord "cloths us" in His righteousness. Consider Abraham who was a man loaded with good works and he therefore had plenty to brag about but not before God; Abraham believed God and it (his belief, faith) was accounted unto him as righteousness. There is an old saying "The road to hell is paved with good intentions" This literally means that many will ignore God's offer of His own righteousness and go about to establish their own which will eventually send them to hell. Salvation by faith in Christ is all too easy for many and they will always claim that it takes works as well. Not so says the Bible! Ephesians 2:8-9 is a sobering reminder that our works are not part of God's salvation plan for mankind.
I will always cite the dieing thief next to the Lord on the cross. he had his salvation there and then; note, he wasn't baptized, a church member, etc., etc., but he became justified by faith of Jesus on the spot.
Why do so many people have difficulty grasping the simple truth of the gospel?
It's because the god of this world has blinded them (satan) I like your comments and would like to hear more from you. God Bless!

Yes, I do know that God consider's me righteous!
How wonderful! I marvel over the grace of God to me.
I am clothed in His righteousness, however, its important
to keep short accounts of our misdeeds to the Lord. Not to
overlook them for this is the downward spiral towards
not enjoying the fullness of Christ.

I always thought that being righteous was an insult to someone who was convinced of their own superiority, arrogant in other words, or hubris, not something desirable to achieve.
I mean righteous, not self righteous, but its only a semiotics point.

So if I jump in a pool at church and say certain words I will be a better person and have a room booked in heaven?

I prefer to just do my best every day, raise my son to be a good person, not hurt others and say sorry if I do...not because Hell scares me but just because it's the right thing to do.

You are right.

But, I think it's important to remind ourselves that the righteousness is the righteousness of Christ imputed to us. THere is no righteousness in man apart from Christ.
