See site below for the best diet for losing weight. It is also very healthy. It emphasizes eating sweets that take 2 minutes to prepare and "cook." It tells about rebounding.
Buy a rebounder (mini-trampoline). Have your kids jump on it everyday for at least 10 minutes at a time. They can do this more than once a day instead of jumping on beds. Only one person on it at a time to avoid injury and breaking it. It will help you lose weight also since it exercises every cell in your body. There are even certified reboundologists. It is part of Kevin Trudeau weight loss protocol to cure being overweight.

If you want to lose weight fast, healthy and permanently, you need to follow the tips below. Maintain a balanced diet The reason why many people are overweight is partly due to an unbalanced diet. If you eat too much from one food group, you won't be able to get the vitamins and nutrients that your body need. A balanced diet is composed of protein, dairy food, a little bit of fat from healthy oil, fruit and vegetables, and good carbohydrates -- at least 5 portions every day. Many professionals suggest a diet that is composed of mostly carbohydrate, moderate protein intake, and a little bit of fat. However, there are many diets espousing a huge amount of protein intake and a dramatic decrease in carbohydrates. Before you apply such diets to your daily routine, you need to talk with a physician first. This high-protein diet may not be ideal for some people, such as those with kidney disease. Increase servings of fruit and vegetables Fruits and vegetables are good sources of vitamins and minerals that our body need. Such food supplies us with vitamin A that is good for our eyes, vitamin C that boosts our immune system, beta-carotene that helps protects our body from the damage of free radicals, and nutrients. Most fruits and vegetables are high in fiber and low calorie, so they also help clean our colon and make us feel fuller. Canned fruits and vegetables are acceptable; however, there is no substitute for the real thing. Stay away from junk food and sugar-loaded drinks Try eliminating junk food and soda from your diet for a week or two, and you will surely feel and see the difference. Maybe the reason why it is called junk food is due to its poor nutritional value. Try looking at a junk food's label, not only is it full of saturated fat, but also usually high in salt or sugar, or both. Aside from water, most of the things you drink are also loaded with calories. Soda and sweetened fruit juices are mainly sugar. Thus, no matter how little you eat, but if you still drink lots of soda and sweetened beverages, you will still continue to gain weight. Don't skip breakfast Even if you are in a hurry or late for work or school, you need to grab a bite. It would be better if your breakfast is healthy – probably an apple, oatmeal and a glass of nonfat milk. If you miss breakfast, you most probably will feel hungrier the rest of the day. In order for our body function properly, we need energy from the food we eat. If you skip breakfast, or a meal or two, your body's metabolism will slow down to compensate for the lack of energy supply. More often than not, people who skip meals, particularly the first meal of the day, will binge later in the day. So, even if you skipped breakfast, you will have a tendency to eat a lot during lunch or dinner.

I think your more in the majority than the minority with your situation. I know that Children are hard to please when it comes to healthy choices NOT like us adults..lol
with that said, I know that author Dr.joyce bauer has great diet books loaded with healthy eatting tips and menus for real people.. in other words the kids will actually eat it.
I assume you know most of the basics on dieting and weight loss, so i wont give ya the obvious. As far as exercise goes and weather restrictions as you mentioned.
I cant recommend enough the local YMCA its affordable and can be paid month by month opposed to joining gyms that require annual contracts.
monthly family passes avg. approx $ 60-75 and may be paid by your health insurance,in some cases.
The YMCA offers family activities and Individual training programs which sounds like where you are at
I can tell you this Drink lots of spring water during your weight loss journey it helps .... Good luck to you and your gang !

Dont supply soo much snack foods like for lunches give them an apple and a nice salad sandwich ..
add variety like use low fat things
stop adding butter and salt to everything
go for a family walk once a week or so and go do stuff
make fruit salads which are yummy! =]
my mum makes them with red+green apples, watermelon, rockmelon, passionfruit, oranges, pinapple and just add anything you like and add a little bit of orange juice to it even though it gives off its own juices.. pop them in separate little containers ready to eat now or later or to take to school or work!
(im 15)
umm change all softdrinks you buy into good fruit juices or just water, when they are hungry tell them to grab a peice of fruit or a drink untill lunch/dinner lol
see if you can make them more active like put them into a sport like soccer where they do physical activity twice a week where they practice and then go play the game on the weekend! =]
if it gets cold, take up snowboarding or skiiing! then your having fun while doing physicall activity and being outside
i dont have any other hints but yeah hope i help!
GOOD LUCK! xxx

skipping is a good exercise. Mostly, you and your family need to walk a lot. walking, either in summer or winter, brings freshness to the entire body. Of course, jogging, cycling, playing indoor games etc should ease your troubles...
