I have never seen my cat hiss, but I had 2 cats and after one died, the one that is living acts like it's playing with the other one every now and then. She runs all around and makes lots of noise.

I'm actually allergic to cats, but when I was younger we did have a Siamese..... she hissed at shadows on the wall, so I guess that isn't really nothing... just something. She'd also look at herself in the mirror and purrrrr....

My cat hisses before she exits a door. I think she thinks there is a cat waiting for her on the other side.

Gina, cats have always been publicly [& privately!] linked, or connected, if you will, to magical & supernatural reality. this is no mistake, or a joke. A cat can easily see & feel things around them. Cat vibes! The fact that the cat hissed in response to what it saw is what I would be curious about. If the cat's cool with it, you can rest assured knowing that all is well. Happy Halloween & Blessed Be.

Yes..
She's always been a peculiar kitty.

She'll stare at something...fixed on it for a very long time, then start hissing or meowing loudly.
Kinda creeps me out.
Ghosts? maybe so...

some of my cats and i have 11 do hiss at what seems to be nothing to us but they are very sensative and very easy to scare as they cant see clearly but they also can sense the presence of paranormal.

Yep! The cat may smell something that is offensive or unusual and causes it to become defensive. Maybe it is smelling something that you have on you, also. We do travel around during the day and pick up smells that we don't know about.
No harm... just pick it up and play w/it. [call it's name first tho'... so you don't get bit or scratched.]

I don't have a cat but my dog will look around the room and whine and bark at nothing. He also will run from nothing. He will be sitting beside me and start whining and go hide under the bed.
