I have 6 years old daughter. She used to call me more than 5 times a day when I am at work. It was ok at first but I felt bad to my other friends who share this room with me. I told her to call me to my cellphone but she still call me to my office phone. How to explain it to her without hurting her feeling. I know she just miss me. Tq

Just explain that she HAS to call your cell phone while you are at work if she wants to talk to you. Write your number down for her on pretty paper. And when she does, make sure you tell her thanks. Hope this works!~

First off- tell whoever is watching your daughter that she needs to limit the amount of times that your daughter calls you. Than you need to sit your daughter down and explain to her that you miss her too during the day but when you are at work you can't have to many personal phone calls or you could get into lots of trouble. Tell her that when you get home from work you would LOVE to sit down with her and talk about her day but until you get home- she needs to limit her phone calls to you for emergencies only! Talk about the 6 year old running the house! Come on! She doesn't call ONLY because she misses you- but she calls because she is a 6 year old that is allowed to use the phone whenever she wants. Set some boundaries with her! My 7 year old has to ask to use the phone and she most certainly does not have phone numbers memorized to call. As Dr. Phil would say "the tail is wagging the dog here!"

Tell her that you miss her while you are work, and explain to her that if she waits and tell you about her day after you get off work that you will be able to spend more time with her. Explain to her that when she calls you on your work phone that it is making people angry with you, and that if she calls your cellphone that you can call her back or talk to her privately without having other people listen to your private conversation.

Tell her about your job.
Tell her about some of the things
you do that would make talking on
the phone impossible, unless she calls
your cell phone.
( You may need to talk walking around ).

She's 6, she knows what she's doing.
If she calls your work phone, ask her
" Is this an emergency ?
No ?
Then call my cell phone ",
then hang up.

She'll know you mean business.

That's cute.

Just tell her:

"___(her name), when Mommy is working you can't call a lot of times on the business phone, because the boss gets upset. Plus there are other Mommies and Daddies who have kids and other business people that they need to talk to, but they can't do that if were always on the business phone. So from now on if you want to call me and talk to me....call the cell phone (give her the number on a notepad)."

Then tell her that you always have that phone with you, so she can get a hold of you.
She is a smart kid I'm sure she will understand.

:)

Every child understands getting in trouble, so explain to her that if she calls you on the office phone you will get into trouble at work, so it is very important that she call you only on your cell phone.

Tell her your boss has noticed you receiving personal call to often and has discussed with you, and any further personal calls to your office phone would jeopardize your job.
