We hunt fox here in America too. Considering the land mass of US/Canada vs. The UK/Australia, I'd guess we have a few more than they do that need to be hunted.

Since I live in the southern Rocky Mountains, we have gray fox as well as the red ones. They seem to particularly like to kill and feed on small pets in my neighborhood, with many Yorkies and cats killed this summer.

Anyone that has ever seen the results of a fox attack on a chicken coop or a yard full of family pets will forever put the myth that "animals don't kill for fun" behind them.

well i could not give you the statistics for us brits ,
however i can tell you i have shot 30 this year though.
Im sorry for thous of you who are offended by what i do and that are going to take offence to what i have wrote.
I have all the pespect in the world fot Mr fox, it's about consevation over hear, protect livestock and sporting birds ect.
You have to think, hunting by dog is now ilegal over hear so the onley controled method is shooting them
