I have had my insurance policy and have been paying monthly installments since the end of June (have not missed nor have been late on any payments) BUT they have still not sent me an insurance cover note, I have called and called and they have promised to send it but to no avail. I havent been able to tax my car (ran out end of sept) so has been sat on my drive for nearly a month now unable to be used..... what can I do - where do i stand with the ins company?!?! Am I liable for any compensation from them due to their sheer lack of service?!
Thanks x

Could you post the name of the insurance company/ broker.
It would seem that you have a case for putting in a formal complaint against them for poor service/ not treating you fairly. Complaints procedure is in the policy document/ key facts document which you will have had from the company (if you have not they are in breach of FSA regulations).
If you are not happy with complaint resolution you can go to the FOS - however I would contact the FSA directly stating that you have concerns as to whether xxxx company are fit and proper to arrange insurance.

Have you tried to tax your car on line? Insurance and MOT information is held on line at DVLA and providing theses are in place it is easy to do... Your renewal notice tells you how..... If your insurance cover has not been updated the DVLA will tell you that.... You can also renew your tax over the phone... A cover note is not absolutely essential, only if renewing tax at a post office....

you must report the car as being off the road to DVLA - then I would seek other insurance - you should have rec your cover note by now - go to cab and explain taking with you any proof of payments etc - ask them for the address to where you can send your complaint (ombudsman). If you can afford it I would seek other insurance lst perhaps. Good luck

If you want to officially complain about this insurer, they will be regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) and will have to comply with Treating Customers Fairly rules. There is loads of information on complaining at the FSA website http://www.moneymadeclear.fsa.gov.uk/guides/making_a_complaint.html and also at the Financial Ombudsman who handle complaints at http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/.

I had this problem with a agent when I first had a car. I spent a whole day on and off the phone (no call centres then) before it was sorted out.I can only suspect the problem because I never got a proper explanation. I do not want to point the finger but--------
