It sounds like, that if you do put the heating on they will breed and spread like crazy, so i wouldnt try that as the result would be very bad, but just try to wear a lot of clothes and socks in the house to stay warm

Call an exterminator. And if he can't get there today then pour boxes of Borax all over the floors and in the furniture. You find it in the laundry section of the store for about three dollars a box. It will kill living fleas within a day, but the eggs still hatch into more.
Give the dog capstar-- it's cheap, and it will kill the fleas within an hour or two. Then put on more Frontline to prevent more fleas. You can put it on every 3wks if you have to. Buy it from the vet not online. There have been reports of "fake" Frontline coming from online suppliers overseas.
You poor things. I hope you get this taken care of soon. Next year keep the dog out to prevent an infestation if you can. If you are in an apt, consider that the fleas may be in the WHOLE building. You might not be able to solve this problem without the landlord's cooperation. If you are in a single dwelling home, it can be solved.

if you can get a carpet cleaner and clean all your carpets, give the room a good hoover get every thing off the floor and from around the edges, when your carpets are clean and hovered get everyone out the house and turn your heating on and then flea bomb the little suckers, get some treatment for your dog, any surviving all this can be sorted with carpet spray afterwards, honey there is no point freezing yourself and hiding from this problem, it will still be there when you are so cold you have to put the heating on, i live in Britain and when we had this problem we called the local council, pest control, all we had to do was be out of the house for one day they came in and treated the house and in the evening we came back and no fleas after a week we cleaned all the carpets with a rug doctor ( you can hire these really cheaply) and we never had the problem again. you really need to treat this problem and stop being afraid in your own house where you should feel the safest, you need to get them out in the open and break the breeding cycle before it will get any better. good luck honey hope your flea free soon.

Put your heating on. It will actually speed up the flea life cycle otherwise the cocoons will lie around and wait for warm weather. You might as well be warm. Vibration linked with warmth will activate the cocoons so start hunting the *****
Treat your pets and use a flea comb, similar to a nit comb, this will remove adults. ( Daily)
Vacuum the house at least once a week. get out the tools and clean around the carpet edges and joins, clean out any cracks etc in the wood work. Empty the vacuum straight away and dispose of the dust in a plastic bag in the bin. I did this every day.
Wash all your bedding and pets every week at least. Use the hottest wash you can as heat will kill the larvae and cocoons.
If you have a tumble dryer uses the highest heat possible, if not use your radiators.
If you can afford it steam clean your carpets.
I use Frontline on my pets and Advantage around the house after I have hoovered.
Sorry but you are on a seek and destroy mission and you need to go after them with every weapon you can find. When I had my infestation I hunted them by hand through my dogs fur and dropped them into bleach. I now use drops to prevent the problem.
Good Luck and Good Hunting- Remember Seek and destroy= and be warm.

Good Grief! Put your heating on! If you treated your dog with Frontline then there are no fleas on your dog! Fleas or no fleas you cannot sit in your house with no heating on. You've probably caused death by hypothermia to all the fleas you thought you had anyway! Unless you had a major flea infestation in the first place, you've probably killed them all with all the products you've been using! If you haven't been bitten recently then you've got rid of all the fleas anyway. Not being funny, but do you actually know what a flea looks like? If you use too many different products for your carpets and furnishings you could cause skin problems in you and your dog which is probably the reason your dog is scratching. Using so many products could possibily cause asthma or breathing problems with you and members of your family. Take your dog to the vets and ask them to check the dog over for fleas and that should put your mind at rest. But most importantly.....put your heating on before you all end up ill!

A good way to see if you still have fleas is to create a flea trap. You can use night lights around the house. Plug them into the lowest outlets on the walls. Put a pan of water with a bit of dish soap under the light. The fleas will jump toward the light and fall in the pan of water. Keep this going in as many areas as possible until you are seeing no more fleas. Good luck!
When you hoover throw the bag away after you have hoovered your whole house. The eggs can hatch in the bag.

Here is what i would do
I would change the carpet then
call an exterminator while i take my dog
to the vet to get a super awesome working
product for dog fleas keep him somewhere else
maybe a friends or in the back yard until his fleas clear out
shampoo him regularly with flea-rid shampoo formula.
And hope that would do it so i can turn my heating system
back on.

Sounds like you need to get the proffesionals out!!!! I found that when you spray the house you have to be very generous with spray and seal all windows and doors. Start at one end of house and keping going until you have done every single thing in the house including interiors of wardrobes and drawers with clothing and blankets etc in. Matresses duvets and pillows need to be done and then repeat this three weeks later. Make sure you apply one spot to the animals at the same time. The eggs can remain dormant for a long time! Good luck.

Hi, think I've spoken to you before!
I would think you can clean before and after applying Skoosh if you like! Just wait maybe a day after spraying. I think it actually says in the instructions when you can clean, I can't remember.
If you're who I'm thinking of, I can't believe you STILL haven't turned the heating on, wasn't that weeks ago?!

It sounds like you have really been working at this with not much results. Try going to Lowes or home depot and get something for fleas in the yard . I would also check under the house.

What about getting a carpet cleaner and cleaning it 2 maybe 3 times and washing all your curtains and nets, cushion covers and sofa if fabric. That may help, also wash your dog.
Good-luck
