I want to give NASCAR a chance, as it's the fastest growing sport in North America. But I do not see the appeal of NASCAR...at least from my limited viewing.
NASCAR fans, please let me know why you like NASCAR and why is it more appealing than F1, CART, or Indy?
Many argue that NASCAR drivers just go 'round in circles, and have no real skills, and is boring as all cars are tuned the same?

Funny thing is, I prefer to watch races on t.v. I remember one year we got special seats because of a politician we knew. Anyways, amazing seats....but I was glad when it was over.

okay but I think you will get as many different answers as there are people...
for me, nascar racing is a true sport, you have talented drivers(some who came from open wheels) racing on the edge of losing control. All out no holds barred racing. 200 mph, 43 others out there to do the same thing, WIN
The personalities are all different, each racing for the win, you have personality clashes, bad days, bad tempers, and the ability as a viewer to get all the aggression out of your system while screaming for either your driver to go get em, or screaming for the one you hate to get over himself...all in all its thrilling, challenging and more than great

the sport of nascar evolved from moonshine runners and their fast cars getting together on a dirt field to see who had the fastest car and at the time it was for bragging rights. Of course a couple folks saw this and realized that there was money to be made and Nascar has become what it is today.
The appeal of the sport is watching people race at over 150 mph with less than an inch seperating them from the next person and not wrecking themselves or the person they are racing beside, that takes skill and talent to be able to do that. In regards to F1, Indy, etc...it could be argued that they go around in circles as well. A circuit is just a cute word for circle isnt it? Yes they do have to turn left and right more often than not, however they are still going in a circle.

There are so many variables that go into a NASCAR race. Yes, with the COT car and the NASCAR technical rules that cars are about the same, but one little adjustment can make the difference between winning and losing. I love watching the pit stops. Those guys in the pits are amazing and can and do make the difference in a race.
Some of the crashes are spectacular (Clint Bowyer on his roof at Daytona). When Senior died (RIP) he made it possible (okay, mandatory) for NASCAR to get on the stick and put in much needed safety devices like the HANS and the soft walls. We will still see the crashes, you can't have 43 guys running around a track at sometimes 200+ MPH and not have a crash, but we will also see 99.9% of those guys get out of the car and walk away.
I love the sport because the drivers are semi-normal human beings who love their fans and are accessable. Try walking up to Kobe Bryant or Tom Brady and saying even Hello. You may get tackled by a body guard!

I dont really enjoy watching it all that much, I would much rather drive but NASCAR is a little out of my price range. However it is supposed to be the very best you could do if you "MADE IT" as a circle track racer. I dont know if you ever go to your hometown track and watch the races but alot of people race and come to watch in my home town so I think its only natural that BIG TIME circle track racing is appealing to us. If you know any drivers personally you become much more involved in watching a race, so I guess some people really connect with some of the drivers and want to see them run and do well or survive a really nasty wreck.

Well look at the numbers.
How many F1 drivers are coming or have come to NASCAR?
How many NASCAR drivers have gone to F1?
Maybe they know something? How many have Excelled once they came to NASCAR? If they are so good, shouldnt they dominate?
Pick a driver follow a few races. Watch the strategy play out. If your not hooked, then you just arent. You cant please all the people all the time which is why there is Dirt track racing, F!, CART and NASCAR.

I'm a converted NASCAR fan. I hated it until I married someone who loved it so I had to learn to like it. Now I'm more into it. On the TV it doesn't seem like they're really moving that fast but when you actually go to a race the cars are a blur almost. That's 200 MPH. And as far as talent goes...I know I couldn't drive a car that fast without killing myself. They also draft with each other which amazes me because they can get so darn close to each other and usually not wreck. The wrecks are exciting too though. I can't compare it to the other racing that you mentioned because I don't watch any other racing. But if you ever get the chance to go to a race you should go. It's an adrenaline rush. Kinda like the first time you went to the State Fair and we're waiting in line to ride your first roller coaster...the excitement, your heart pumping...so nervous you feel like you're gonna crawl out of your skin. it sounds silly but a live race is an intense experience. It was awesome.

NASCAR is the sport. It is man and machine against another man and machine. Who knows how to tune thiers the best? Why not race them? NASCAR is where 43 men can come down to one. NASCAR is where the speed and skill match and become one. Without one, you don not have the other. NASCAR is how we feel and accociate with each other. Either your a redneck, dirt of America Dale Earnhardt jr fan, a CEO of one of the wolds biggest companies as a Jeff Gordon fan, or a typical American family that routs for drivers like Mark Martin, Carl Edwards, Denny hamlin, or Jeremy Mayfield. We all have different taste. And by the way, it doens't matter where you came from, how you grew up, or what your life is outside of the sport, NASCAR is where people come to have fun and relax with each other. NASCAR is America. NASCAR is like WWE with out the fixing. Like NFL without the ball, basketball without the attitude, baseball without the steroids. NASCAR is pure, It is fun, and it is life.

Tina, you're funny!
It's the level of the competition in NASCAR. They have to race on four different types of tracks. No other major auto racing series uses cars with fenders, so NASCAR is the only one that is actually a contact sport. There is a lot more to it than going round and round. I like it because there is almost always something happening somewhere on the track. Lots of action.

Braggin rights.
Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge vs Toyota.
The challenges being made between drivers the teams attempting to out smart the other teams.
The competition use to be the appeal but that has gone to the wayside with recent changes,so now the race is for second in competition and popularity for first.

Seriously wat one has to look for is out of so many cars how that one winner chases and come onto number one position lol thats it. only his driving skills and the cars manufacturer have got to be appreciated. The team work follows. I dunno I just like racing in general but even if it's boring just to c cars going round and round lap after lap it's like if u truly want to be a great driver urself u end up looking for that one skillful driver who chases his car and makes it run faster then anyother racer and his brand of car. Lol i prefer watching the races on TV atleast if u get bored with all the round and round laps going u can easily surf some other channel and watch something for a while as there is always an option to get back to the race anytime u want to chk on it's status lol .
