I truely think its sad that people respond the way they do to certain questions. Liek when some one come son here and asks for help b/c their dog is pregnant and all some people can do is answer by saying, get your dog spayed, your a bad person and you had time to look it up etc. Thats not what they are asking, they are asking for our help. And help is what they should get not critizism. I'm sure that they feel bad already you don't need to make in worse. And how do you not know that it was an accident, maybe they had booked an appointment to get their dog spayed and then they got out and got pregnant? Seriously though I think if you aren't going to actually answer the question then why say anything at all? Some people really need to be nicer. And I'm sure karma is knocking on those people's doors for them not being so kind to others.

ok then i will turn it into a question. Why do people feel like they need to be so rude towards others? Especially when these people are asking for our help. I do believe the point of this site is to help other people in finding the right answer to their question, and i agree with what some of you have wrote that we need to educate this people asking questions. they don't know tahts why they ask. Thank you everyone for the feed back,.I like a lot of the responses so far and it'll be hard choosing a best answer later

This one is for DP, I won't ever say that someone should get their dog spayed b/c I believe it is teh owners right not to or to spay them. also its a great learning tool for myself since I am learning to become a vet assistant and this way I'll be able to remember everything when it comes to my test. And I am a nice kind person who strongly believes that everyone should be a lot nicer to everyone else! Being nice to others makes me feel good and I'm not going to stop just b/c someone else feels differently, if thats how you feel thats how you feel. If people coming on here and posting teh same question is annoying then why bother even looking at the question? and atleast its not the same person posting it 10times in a row, its different people with slighty different questions.

Milkway I perfectly understand what you are saying and that must of been horrible to witness! But these question I am seeing aren't like that situation. These are people that are by the sounds of how they are writing, nice people just needing help on what to do. Or to except. You shouldn't assume anything without proof. I honestly see the good in someone until they show me otherwise. I would of liked to have wrote this in an e-mail to you but it states that I can't, so if you feel like you need to respond further to this plz e-mail me. If someone else reads this and wants to "chew me out" go for its not going to bother me its just going to sorta prove my point.

and yes I am for animal rights.. I really don't think people are getting the point of this.. Its about being NICE...something you were taught as a child, or atleast I was. Go to my answers page and look at "I am now the proud granny of 4 labrador puppies... ??" its on page 6, this is what got me write this in the first place, maybe reading that will help get ppl to understand what i am talking about.

Yes I agree with you, most are looking for a little bit of help, but they are asking in the wrong place. If they need proper advice then they should talk to a Vet. Each case is different, whats good for one dog is not always good for the next one. Perhaps if Vets didn't charge so darn much in the case of having an animal spayed or neutered then more people would get it done.I was stunned when I got the bill after getting my girl spayed, and someone on a fixed or low income would not be able to afford that. I know that you can get a PDSA cert in some cases for help with illness but at our Vets it does not cover Spaying or booster jags, so the person is stuck.

I have told people to spay their dog. Dogs can be spayed/neutered as puppies and for them to go into a first heat is irresponsibility on behalf of the owners. I also am training to become a vet assistant and have been working as a natualist for years, so I handle and care for many animals. I feel that some people on here are irresponsible and do not take into consiteration that a lot of dogs are in shelters and not wanted and euthanized every day. It makes me cry to see things like "animal cops" on Animal Planet and know real animals are suffering out there. When someone comes on here and asks advice on what to do, I give them my honest opinion and sometimes that doesnt come across nicely. If someone asks how do I breed my mix breed cuz she's cute you are right I will tell them to get her fixed. It is sad to me that a fellow future vet assistant doesnt see things that way. Maybe when you get a job as a vet assistant and start rescuing (as most animal workers do) you will change your perceptions.

Actually, I'm sure karma would love to knock on my door and get me for not being kind to others, but karma is far too busy knocking on the doors of those people who have decided to breed their sweet pet dogs so they can have "baby doggies".

We're not saying these people who breed their dogs are bad people. They mean well and they all love their dogs; if not they wouldn't be asking here. Understand that it is frustrating to know that a dog is on the brink of death just because someone felt her little doggy girl wanted to have puppies. It really just makes us want to yell at them and ask WHY they couldn't have done their research. Research is EASY, and FREE. Why do people ask questions like "my dog just had puppies what do I do????" Did they not foresee their dog actually having puppies when they got pregnant?

These people are not necessarily BAD people, but they are irresponsible. They mean well, but they can't follow through. Is that their fault? Yes, it is, entirely their fault.

When you are a vet assistant you will understand how much harm birth can do to a dog that is too old to breed, or to a dog that was not sufficiently prepared for birth. You will also get to see the hundreds of dogs who are rushed in and die during C-sections. Then you will realise how frustrating it can be when people breed irresponsibly.

The reason why I continue to answer the questions of the people who frustrate me so much is because they need to know that what they did was wrong. Other people who trawl the Internet looking for information also need to know that this is wrong. To object silently is no use; it's as good as approval. This is something I won't be silent about.

Email me if you want to "chew it out". I will stand by my original take all the way.

I don't do "nice".

I do do BLUNT and HONEST.

I believe in responsible pet ownership. It is irresponsible to allow a dog to become pregnant when the owner doesn't have a clue about reproduction, whelping or rearing of pups. I don't believe in "accidental" breeding... if the b*tch is unaltered and is not being closely monitored to prevent pregnancy that is IRRESPONSIBLE not an "accident". In the case of such a breeding the pregnancy should be terminated and the b*tch spayed OR the OWNER should step up, be responsible and RESEARCH how to whelp and rear pups.

This is NOT an adequate forum to educate someone on how to whelp or rear pups.

I'm sure Karma does what is best... including dealing with irresponsible owners.

Your quote "I believe it is teh owners right not to or to spay them".

I can see you have never been involved in rescue or volunteered at a shelter and seen first hand what you say is the "owners right" to breed or not to. The ones that suffers because of owners right are the dogs. THey are the ones that get euthanized because there are to many dogs and not enough homes. Screw owners rights, I'm for helping the animals and the biggest way to help them is to stop the mindless breedings.

The biggest cause of death in healthy dogs is euthanasia.

I whole heartedly agree. I try to give helpful answers while trying to also educate. Hopefully I don't come across as harsh as some people do. Some are just plain mean. I don't think that's the way to educate people. You definately get someones attention better by being nice rather than rude. .....

Nice is good when we have to stoop to ask on here, I agree. Most already know the answer, but would like to see how others have handled it, bcuz there probally is an easier way.
I appreciate the funny answers though, laughter is the best medicine.

Agree with you completely. I didn't see the question about the dogs but it happens a lot in other sections too - especially in religion and spirituality so now I don't even look at them posts.

We hardly know each other and its no good sitting in judgment. If you can't help out stay schtum!

They are bullies. Just like when you went to school. Ignore them and they still won't go away so just believe what you want to believe and just think of them as just bullies.
Good Luck

I understand that people are looking for help- sometimes. And being rude is not the way to handle it. But, when you see it ignorance first hand as I do on a regular basis, and you see the animals suffering as a result, you might see it differently. I am an emergeny veterinary nurse and you wouldn't believe the things I see and hear first hand. I once had a guy that called about his pregnant chihuahua that had been in labor for 2 days and wanted to know what he could give his dog, so that he could cut the puppies out of her. When I tried to explain that he could not do that and encouraged him to come in he had no money to do so. Then he called back and told me he was going to try to squeeze the puppies out of her, and again I told him not to do that and to bring her in he said he could not bring her in. I got his number and called a local animal cruelty service that said that would pay for his expences and they told me to call him back to to tell him to come in. Before I could call him back he called again and said he was coming in as she was not doing well. She was in VERY bad shape, after we stabilized her we went in and did an emergency c-section. One of her puppies was free in her abdomen as he had squeezed her so hard the he had ruptured her uterus. She died about 2 hours later. I've seen embedded collars on dogs from owners that failed to notice. Many, many calls from owners with pregnant dogs who were unable to deliver with no money and never came in- you know they died. Also, once a shih tzu with hair so matted around all four feet that one of the legs were cut down to the bone 3/4 the way around by the matted hair. So I know that sometimes for me it's very difficult to listen to these extremely ignorant questions, but my God, where is the common sense, and humanity.
